No British politician has been more happy to see Combover Crybaby Donald Trump installed in the White House as the 45th President of the United States than former UKIP Oberscheissenführer Nigel “Thirsty” Farage. It was Farage, after all, who was the first elected representative from the UK to greet The Donald, and have himself snapped in the gold-plated lift in New York City’s Trump Tower alongside his new idol.
Squeaky pro freeloader finger up the bum time
And now Mr Thirsty has gone one better: he has been hired as a “political analyst” (no, don’t laugh) by Fox News Channel (fair and balanced my arse). This will suit Farage down to the ground: he can shoot his gob off, spewing out the usual mix of falsehood and misinformation, and instead of being called out for it, will find hosts like professional loudmouth Sean Hannity queueing to crawl up his arse.
As the BBC has reported, “The former UKIP leader will provide political analysis for the main channel, and the Fox Business Network's daytime and primetime programmes … Mr Farage has been one of the UK's most prominent supporters of US President Donald Trump and appeared alongside him during his election campaign … He was the first UK politician to meet Mr Trump after his win in November”. And then comes the coda.
“It comes shortly after he was given his own nightly show on UK radio station LBC”. Think about that. Mr Thirsty has a nightly weekday show on LBC. He has been hired by Fox News as someone who will, one has to assume, appear regularly on both the main channel and Fox Business Network. Put both of those together and you have a full time job. But Farage already has a full time job elsewhere.
He is a Member of the European Parliament, and has declared that, despite the result of last year’s referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU, he will continue to draw his salary, which, given the falling value of Sterling, is now worth £88,000 a year. On top of that, he is able to claim around £45,000 a year in allowances without even turning up at the European Parliament. Then there are staff he can charge for.
Moreover, Farage already has the worst voting attendance record of any active MEP (the only one with a worse record is Irish MEP Brian Crowley, who is paralysed from the waist down and has spent several months recently in hospital). His only purpose in turning up to debates has been to shout abuse at mainstream politicians (those who are not just there to take the money) and spread false claims about EU influence.
I’ll put this directly: Nigel Farage has never given his full attention to being an MEP. He will give the job even less attention now. He is no more than a sponger, trousering tens of thousands of pounds under false pretences. Had he been a benefit claimant in the UK, he would by now be languishing in jail. It is high time he resigned from the European Parliament and stopped pretending he is any more than a shameless freeloader.
Nigel Farage’s taxpayer funded gravy train must be cancelled - and the sooner the better.
