Top Six – September 7

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, I have domestic stuff to do later. So there.
6 Dan, Dan The Vacuum Cleaner Man MEP and occasional Tory Hannan waded into the vacuum cleaner row. His chief weapon was dishonesty. No change there.

5 Sun Muslim Convert Scare Not An Accident The Sun was alone in splashing the “Muslim Convert” angle when an elderly woman was killed in the back garden of her North London home. They’ve been rowing back since. Murdoch and crude scaremongering always seem to follow each other around.

4 Toby Young’s Selective School Exposed The idea that the West London Free School represented its community was disproved by a senior teacher’s research. The loathsome Tobes then tried to excuse the results, but succeeded only in digging himself in further.

3 Vacuum Cleaner Row Now Beyond Parody The Daily Mail offered high-powered but now obsolete cleaners to its readers, some of whom lapped them up. Sadly, they failed to notice that they were helping clear warehouses of otherwise unwanted machines and needlessly increasing their energy bills.

2 EU Vacuum Cleaner Row – Dyson Speaks The idea that you needed all that power to vacuum up all the dirt and dust was blown apart by the man whose inventions dragged the industry kicking and screaming into the new Century.

1 Plebgate – Boot Now Firmly On Other Foot Last year, we were told by the right-wing press that surveillance overreach was not a problem and it was all a Guardian scare story. Then the Sun had its phone records trawled by the Police, and it was all so very different.

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
