Who Threw All The Pies?

Being on the email circulation list for Crewe and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson gives constituents a glimpse into the sometimes interesting, often mundane, and occasionally bizarre events that he – and no doubt his 600 plus colleagues – have to negotiate as part of the Westminster day job.

This was demonstrated by the latest News Bulletin (number 85!) which tells voters of their MP’s recent itinerary. Some of it is mundane: he’s opening a village hall this weekend, has been in discussion with the Minister for Sport, and attended a Parliamentary reception.

But there is an opportunity for Timpson to play to his strength: he chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Adoption and Fostering. The Timpson family have majored in fostering over the years.

And then there is an occasional sleb meeting: he’s attended a reception for Breast Cancer Care along with Geri Halliwell. OK, not exactly a capital S in sleb, but Ms H is still fairly well known.

But the headline in the Timpson recent events log is that he “Threw the opening pie at the Wybunbury Fig Pie challenge 2011”.

Eric Pickles is reportedly distraught at missing out on an invite.
