Not surprisingly, the national media were looking elsewhere, and even the folks at the Beeb seemed not to bother looking out of the window, so the expats made their point again yesterday. That being a weekday, the Beeb finally woke up and gave the protest some coverage, as part of a story on one expat whose brother had been killed in Benghazi.This was in contrast to the Manchester Evening News, which was more interested in Wayne and Coleen Rooney. Libya, Manchester, And The Media
Last Sunday, there was a demonstration by Libyans outside the BBC. How so? Well, this happened in Manchester, which has the UK’s largest expat Libyan population. Several hundred turned up at the Oxford Road site, an event recorded by the Manchester Stop The War Coalition.
