As if some schools in Birmingham needed more media interference in their business after Andrew “Transcription Error” Gilligan flew his “Trojan Horse” kite recently, which caused disruption to thousands of pupils’ education, along has come controversy over educating children about diverse lifestyles. And where there is controversy and Scary Muslims™, there is inevitably the Daily Mail waiting in the wings.
Behold the voice of racial and religious tolerance
So it was that the inmates of the Northcliffe House bunker told their readers “Furious Muslim parents withdraw children from school claiming their children are being brainwashed about gay rights in equality lessons … The 600 primary pupils make up 80 per cent of Parkfield Community School … They were withdrawn from the Birmingham school in protest of LGBT lessons … Angry parents said the classes 'promote homosexuality' to their young children”. And there was more.
“Friday's action comes after weekly demonstrations against the school's programme, including one that was attended by 300 parents and children last month … Some Muslim demonstrators said they would rather leave the UK than allow their children to continue attending Parkfield Community School”. And yet more.
“Parents' anger is aimed at the school's assistant head Andrew Moffat, who is behind the No Outsiders lessons … He created the scheme to teach children about the Equality Act and British values”. And guess what is coming around the corner, Mail readers? “Mr Moffat, who is in a civil partnership, was made an MBE for services to equality and diversity in education in 2017”. The Mail wants you to know that HE IS GAY.
The Mail also wants you to know that “Some of the parents said Islam did not accept homosexuality”. Only as a detail does the Mail also tell that “He resigned from a previous teaching post at another school after a row with Christian parents over lessons challenging homophobia”. Ah yes, they won’t be frightening their readers about that.
Resulting publicity has not been helpful, either, with Humanists UK claiming “A school in Birmingham has withdrawn its lessons on LGBT acceptance because 400 Muslim parents petitioned against it”, only for activist Assed Baig to point out “I’m filming in Birmingham today. The school has not stopped the lessons and parents don’t just see it as a Muslim issue”. Not just a Muslim issue. And Vivienne Windle had something to say about that.
“Before people get carried away about Muslim parents, this attitude was prevalent from extreme Christian parents when I was a school governor. It was this attitude from so-called Christians that led to the dreadful Section 28 under Thatcher”. Remember Section 28? Draconian sweeping under the carpet. Can’t talk about it. By law.
There are clearly issues here, and not just for Muslims. But for the Mail, it’s all about one of TEH GAYS ramming propaganda down the throats of kids. With a side order of Muslim bashing to frighten the readers. Which, as so often, is just not good enough.

That the Hate Mail has twisted this, as they always do, does not change the point; this is yet more blatant homophobia in the guise of "religious freedom".
That it was previously hardcore Christians doing this, unreported by the Mail, only shows the Mail's hypocrisy. It does not excuse the bigoted parents one bit.
Both the Koran and Bible say gay people should be killed, and many are indeed killed because of it. Religion is no excuse for ultra-rightwing hate.
Never forget that.
