Piers Morgan’s Son ROASTED

You may not have heard of Spencer Morgan. But he is gaining a public profile, not least because his Dad is former Screws and Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan. So he may not merit being splashed all over the red-tops, or get occasional broadcast exposure, off his own bat, but because Dad has the contacts and the pals, he gets it anyway.

And what's more, Ron ...

And the latest fun fact we know about Spencer Morgan is that is firmly in the lockdown denial camp, talking down the severity of infection with Covid-19 into the bargain. However, and here we encounter a significantly sized however, this has proved to be a campaign that has recently developed not necessarily to his advantage.

He said WHAT about Covid-19?

His determination to diminish the scale of the pandemic was summed up when, on Monday, he sniffed “15 less than last Monday but that doesn’t fit the narrative” on seeing that there were 136 more reported deaths with Covid-19 (and yes, he should have said “fewer”). But Monday has under-reported for months: there were 397 more deaths reported yesterday. And another 1,540 hospital admissions.

Morgan Junior also tried to minimise the effect of Covid-19: “Wonder if I’ll ever meet anyone whose experience of covid was worse than flu”. And this was where he encountered resistance to his product, from author and poet Michael Rosen, who is still recovering from a long hospital stay. Covid-19 nearly killed him.

My oxygen saturation level was 58. If my wife hadn’t taken me to A and E I would have died within hours. I had blood clots in my lungs and bleeds or clots in my brain. Lost sight in eye, hearing in ear, feeling in toes. Flu?” he responded. What say Spencer now?

I haven’t met you”. Very good Spen. I’ve never met anyone who was at Gallipoli, or on the Russian front in either World War, or at Arnhem, or Anzio, or indeed Dunkirk. But I suspect they happened despite my not meeting any of the participants.

Besides, Rosen was ready with the roasting iron. “Yes - I was due some good luck at some point this year”. OUCH! Double OUCH!! But Spencer Morgan was not downhearted. And to prove this, he recalibrated his sights a little higher. “I wonder if I'll get knighted at the end of all this”. Sadly, that is most likely in the category of QTWTAIN.

Still, he’s sticking to his Covid-19 minimising and lockdown bashing cause, complaining last night “Few angry lockdownists in the DMs today. Sure are a dumb bunch”. The lack of self-awareness seems to run in the family. Piers should be proud.

Spencer Morgan’s credibility was for a time, but not for all time. Just rejoice at that news.

To Piers Morgan's credit (you wont hear me saying that very often), I gather he has not spoken to his son for quite some considerable time over this issue.

"You may not have heard of Spencer Morgan"

I don't think there was any need for the epistemic modality. On the evidence of the gibbering reported here, I doubt there was anything of note to hear.

What does Spencer do for a living? Epidemiology? Virologist? Nope, he's a Z list celeb, living off his famous Dad.
