Emily Hewertson Kicks Off

Those who look in regularly on Zelo Street may remember Emily Hewertson, and the BBC mistakenly giving her a platform with a puff piece entitled “Party girls can do politics”. What the Beeb managed to miss was her link to Turning Point UK, which as I pointed out at the time “is the British offshoot of a US original which has been linked to white supremacists, accused of racism, accused of McCarthyite behaviour in compiling its ‘Professor Watchlist’, and often denied campus recognition”. But she had been on Question Time.
Emily Hewertson ...
... and where she's at

In the 13 months since that sub-15 minutes worth of fame, Ms Hewertson appears to have enjoyed a less than stellar public profile, but help is now at hand: she has been the subject of criticism, and so has decided not only that the Rotten Lefties™ done it, but also that she is going to leverage their non-existent presence for the benefit of Herself Personally Now.
Didn’t want to talk abut this, but I am sick of going into pubs to find left-wing groups, shouting at me make me feel so uncomfortable, to the point I have [to] leave”. She didn’t want to talk about it, but she’s going to talk about it anyway. There was more. “Sorry, but this has happened to [sic] many times. Tonight, I went in and a group called my name and continued to look at me - I ignored. The friend I was with then went for a drink and I got told, when I was alone, that I had ‘very strong opinions’ despite having fairly liberal ones”.
That, of course, is a matter of opinion. But do go on. “This is extremely intimidating and I’m glad I am confident, as others would be even more afraid. I even felt obligated [?] to leave after one drink. This isn’t the first example but I don’t want others to go through the same. Don’t be intimated by your opinions!” Or chase your own shadow. Or get paranoid. Or get your argument arse about face. Oh, and “(This was a group of men by the way)”.
How did she know they were “left-wing”? We don’t get to find out. But we do get “By the way, I do not care if you disagree with me - you are entitled to your opinion. Plenty of people do… no problem. What I care about is when you shout rubbish at a 20 year old, who is out and about, having a good time!” I suspect no one cares. But carry on.
Also, no, what they said wasn’t by its sort bad, but it’s not nice to shout stuff things at a young girl when they were alone and had done nothing at all, except sat down for a drink”, I’m sorry, this is irrelevant. The questions were more to the point, like “Pubs have only been open since Saturday. How many pubs have you been in since then?” and “If you did nothing at all except sit down for a drink, how did they know you had differing views?
One Tweeter tagged Didn’t Happen Of The Year Awards: “I think you've got a strong contender here - classic narcissism (everyone knows who I am!) and victim complex (and they pick on the conservatives!) rolled into the ludicrous idea this happens in 'many' pubs, 'many' times”, and someone who knew of Ms Hewertson put everyone straight.
She goes to KCL, I have friends who go there and she is extremely disliked. Struts around like Queen Bee, name drops and is generally a pain in the arse”. Of course, this is a single uncorroborated source. But then, so is Emily Hewertson. I’ll just leave that one there.

Brief appearance on QT and a 3 minute video on the BBC website over a year ago. Yeah, I don't think 99.99% of people would know who she is if she went up to them slapped them in the face yet we are supposed to believe that this happens so often that she gets sick of it? I doubt it even happened once. Her views don't even seem to be that unusual or controversial that they would attract much attention.

I think the phrase is 'get over yourself'.

There's a pattern with far rightwing commentators like Emily, they're little bit shameless in seeking publicity in their perceived victimhood.

Does she have a crystal ball? How do these men know or care about her Far right views?

In America they call attention seeking white women 'Karen', seems Turning Point UK have their own little 'Karen' feigning victimhood.

Anyway most men even political ones like me, want to relax over a drink and talk about something more interesting than politics.

No, Krystal Ball is her own special kind of weird.

Never heard of her.

But sounds like a standard ranting righty. The BBC's full of 'em.

You think that's bad?....You should've heard loopy shot-from-cannon Barnett defending billionaires the other day - the usual tedious twattery "creators of wealth" and "entrepreneur" Ayn Rand bullshit.

There'll be another one along in a minute. Some people will do anything for money.

I would imagine any "pub" she frequents are full of the same sort as her anyway, doubt she was in the local 'Spoons, guess she got the hump because she wasn't the centre of attention

She appears to be knocking about with Farage’s former comms chief Dan Jukes (see her tweet of 30 June). https://www.hopenothate.org.uk/2017/05/30/farages-spin-doctor-poses-far-right-conspiracy-theorist/
