Buy A Coffee - Not The Sun

Last week, we saw our free and fearless press exhorting us not to buy that cup of coffee, but instead to buy a paper. The Murdoch goons played an especially active role. We were also told that the journalism offered by the press was “trusted”. Having had the Easter weekend to consider this proposition, I have to tell the mafiosi on the 13th floor of the Baby Shard Bunker that they were talking out of the backs of their necks.
Why that conclusion has been reached is not difficult to understand, and three glaringly obvious examples of why one should not touch the Murdoch press with one’s worst enemy’s longest and most socially distant bargepole may be served up in support. The first of these concerns alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

Johnson was, last week, gravely ill following his becoming infected with Covid-19. His spinners, as Zelo Street noted at the time, failed to come clean about the severity of his condition. And nor did the hacks at the Super Soaraway Currant Bun. Only after he had been discharged to continue his convalescence has this been admitted.

Why anyone should part with their hard-earned cash just to be gaslit, and indeed lied to, is not easy to understand. It does not make a convincing case for purchase, especially when the further dishonesty from the likes of faithful Murdoch retainer Trevor Kavanagh is added in. One can view high quality lying on social media for free. And it gets worse.

Yesterday’s Sunday Sun published what purported to be a “debate” between two supposed “experts”, on whether the UK’s lockdown should continue. But there were two problems: One, there was no debate, merely a statement from each “expert” in turn, and Two, one of the “experts” was the loathsome Toby Young, whose expertise in infectious diseases is somewhat less than the square root of stuff all.
To peddle Tobes as an “expert” on anything other that his ability to score More And Bigger Paycheques For Himself Personally Now is to go way beyond insulting your audience. Now has come yet another rock-solid reason why one should not consider the Sun to be “trusted”: its front page splash today is the epitome of sick-making hypocrisy.

Battler Boris Discharged … PM hails ICU nurses … By bed for 48 hours … BOJO’S ANGELS” trumpets the headline, as the Murdoch press continues its screeching U-Turn over the NHS, which it had spent much of the past 20 years slagging off. As for their praise for ICU nurse Luis Pitarma, that was yet worse: he is one of those EU nationals who the paper wants to have removed from the UK. Or maybe not, now.

And only as a footnote are readers told that in the past four weeks, more than 10,500 people in the UK have died in hospital as a result of Covid-19 infection, such is the Murdoch goons’ investment in The Adoration Of The Boris.

There is nothing there of any useful news value. Indeed, by publishing Toby Young and passing him off as an “expert”, the Sun is effectively following Fox News Channel (fair and balanced my arse) in deliberately peddling misinformation to its readers.

So go right ahead, folks. Buy a coffee. At least it won’t leave a nasty taste.

An alternative to buying a coffee and for a good cause.

A rag then. A rag now. A rag always. Don't buy the bloody thing at all. I got it goes down the plug hole for good.

Since I heard the Murdoch Scum's plea that it costs less than a cup of coffee I've bought many cups of coffee.

But never one issue of the Scum.
