As Zelo Street regulars will already know, Twitter has rewarded the attempt by Carl Benjamin, who styles himself Sargon of Akkad, to evade a ban on his presence by, er, banning his presence. At the same time, the platform granted a similar award to Stephen Yaxley Lennon, who styles himself Tommy Robinson, and removed the account which had been set up to promote his campaign for the European Parliament elections.
Cue much wailing about interfering in elections, rather than admitting that Lennon had, like Benjamin, already been banned for busting Twitter’s T&Cs. In any case, Lennon was not downhearted: he was already setting up yet another Twitter account, in a yet further flagrant breach of those T&Cs. But he has already been rumbled.
The new account is called @TommyElection and claims “This page is not run by Tommy Robinson”. That’s not quite true, is it? Consider the account’s very first Twitter foray: “Just setting up my Twitter. #myfirstTweet”. Very Third Person, or rather not. A few minutes later came “#VoteTommy #JoinTheMovement #TommyRobinsonMEP”.
And then there was the inevitable “https://www.tr.news/ #VoteTommy” plug - almost as if the presence behind the Twitter feed knew it was likely to be cut at any time, and was desperately trying to tell his followers where else he could be found. Oh, and for those still maintaining the charade that Lennon isn’t working this himself, there was this nugget: “My last page was deleted. Follow this one, thank you”.
Need another example of the desperate plugging of alternative outlets? Here it comes “Join Telegram - ‘Tommy Robinson News’. Download the App and join Tommy there for daily updates. #TommyRobinsonMEP #TommyRobinson Please get sharing this page. Keep The Movement moving. Thank you”. I kept the movement moving at 0830 hours this morning, thanks, and it didn’t half pen and ink. But back to Lennon and Twitter.
While The Great Man is trying his hardest to get those followers to look at Telegram, or his “News” site, he has also been trying to appeal to a higher authority. “@realDonaldTrump Twitter banned #TommyRobinson again! They banned his Election page and this is the new one. Next it could be you Mr President in the 2020 Elections. Speak out for #TommyRobinsonMEP #TommyRobinson thank you”. Aw Sir! SIR! Please Sir!
Like the Combover Crybaby gives a flying foxtrot about anyone else. This account will go the same way as Lennon’s last attempt to evade the ban he was rightly handed after he had persistently broken the rules and had his blue tick removed as a result. No amount of protest, and endorsement by the usual tired suspects like Ezra Levant of Rebel Media, and self-confessed killer Avi Yemini, will make any difference.
Stephen Lennon isn’t too fond of rules. Fortunately, Twitter is. I’ll just leave that one there.
