Industrial action called on behalf of workers at the BBC over changes to pension rights had previously got the right fired up: here was proof that the Beeb was a hotbed of leftism, as the action would coincide with the Tory conference. But it’s been called off.
So we’ll have no problem in seeing Young Dave and his jolly good chaps strutting their stuff in Birmingham next week. This is as it should be: let’s see just how appealing the larger part of the new and improved two-headed donkey really is.
The prosaic reality is that 95% of the coverage will be deathly boring, and not likely to garner any significant number of new votes, let alone members. The only thing likely to spice things up is a whiff of scandal from the Sunday papers.
Here’s hoping.
