It was not long before examples of Jezza not subscribing to what, using Farage’s happy phrase, was a “madcap conspiracy theory”, were appearing all over Twitter, X, or whatever Muskrat’s calling it this week. Worse for Mr Thirsty, there are plenty of examples of him crossing the anti-Semitism line out there. Including what he actually said about North America.
Before LBC kicked him out, Farage told listeners “there are other very powerful foreign lobbies in the United States of America, and the Jewish lobby with its links to the Israeli Government is one of those strong voices”. The US Jewish lobby, according to Farage, was a “foreign lobby”.
Could it get worse? Don’t ask. The Board of Deputies were not happy: “In a tweeted video message this month, Farage said the UK faced ‘cultural Marxism’ [origins in Nazi ideology] … said companies who pulled TV adverts from rightwing TV shows were being pressured by ‘Soros-funded organisations’ [trope of the ‘Disloyal Jew’]”. And his Newsweek interview?
“Orbán's Hungary is standing up to George Soros and closing him down, I wish we all did the same … Another anti-Brexit plot backed by George Soros. This man will stop at nothing … The Soros-funded attempt for a second referendum has failed … London is ranked the best financial centre while Frankfurt is 11th. We're all sick of the constant threats from Goldman and the globalists”. Goldman and the globalists? They got an album out, have they?
There was more. “We are heading towards a world where the democratic nation state has made a comeback against the globalists … We are beating the globalists! … Obama and Merkel are holding a losing party for the globalists! … The globalists are sticking together”. And he wasn’t finished.
“Goldman Sachs and big business lost the referendum … Congratulations to former EU Commission President [José Manuel Barroso], now over at Goldman Sachs. Global corporatism! … If Goldman Sachs are leaving London for the US, why aren't they going to their beloved European Union? … Goldman Sachs Chairman thinks those who want border controls are 'xenophobic'. Badly out of touch”. You get the picture. So will Jezza’s lawyers.
Farage will find many instances of Corbyn condemning anti-Semitism, denouncing Holocaust denial, and showing solidarity with Jewish groups. He will have rather more difficulty standing up his smear of the former Labour leader. He will lose this one - should he decide to defend it.
Nigel Farage will have to pay up and say sorry. Just rejoice at that news.

The only sad bit would be Jeremy won't do the same to the Starmer/Reeves Quislings. Only because he doesn't want to rupture the Labour Party the way the Quislings have.

But defamation requires ‘publication’ and must have the effect of lowering the claimant’s reputation in the estimation of a reasonable person. Can a broadcast witnessed by a paltry number of semi-sentient GB News viewers seriously constitute ‘publication’? And even if it did, can any of those grunting their assent to Farage’s allegations in between dusting the William and Kate pictures and taking their morning nap, really be considered ‘reasonable persons’?
However, if it should go ahead, what chance has Corbyn of winning?
Farage will be funded by enough wealthy backers to afford the smoothest and most successful of Private Eye's gallery of obnoxious, ask-no-questions barristers. And with the possibility of a victory against the most 'antisemitic' of the 'antisemitic' Labour Party in the offing, there'll be no shortage of support from those who will conveniently forget (or never actually knew about) the young Farage's alleged public singing of 'Gas 'em all' and pride in his initials being NF, in the days when the fascist Right's obsession was with Jews rather than Muslims.
Funnily enough, my daughter was in Ramsgate today and walked into a pub only to find Farage inside having a pint. Whether the frog-faced twat was actually drinking it or just waiting for the photographer to arrive for the obligatory Farage-with-patriotic-pint-prop picture, she didn’t hang around to find out.

I am very much afraid that after a lot of bluster Fartrage will emit a mealy-mouthed proto-apology rather than let to go to court, wherein his finances could come in for the kind of scrutiny that his dark money backers would prefer to avoid.

It won’t even make it to court probably - Farage can have all the money in the world, it won’t change the fact he said something that is seriously defamatory and untrue. If it did make it to court he would have to take the stand and be asked all the things that The Inestimabile Tim points out above, he’d come out of it poorer and an antisemite.
