But he did consult with the oil industry, so for him, that’s all right, then. He has decreed that the USA is going to “run” Venezuela, which may interest those who remember the chaos in Iraq, when the USA decided to “run” that country. Whichever way you slice it, this is illegal and corrupt behaviour several times over. Which brings us to the international community’s response.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro - whose country is in the line of fire, remember - was unequivocal: “A clan of paedophiles wants to destroy our democracy. To keep Epstein's list from coming out, they send warships to kill fishermen & threaten our neighbour with invasion for their oil”. China has demanded that the US release Maduro. So has Iran.
So, New New Labour, what is the UK Government response to be? How would a confident Government, sure of its interpretation of international law, respond? What would a statesmanlike Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues do? What would a seasoned human rights lawyer, like Keir Starmer, have done? What would Nietzsche have done?
Sadly, the New New Labour Government, so quick to approve the Israeli removal of water and electricity supplies to Gaza in another display of collective punishment, does not operate on such a lofty intellectual plane, and so the response, when it eventually came, was craven in the extreme.

As if you need to ask. Instead of any kind of condemnation, Mike Tapp, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Migration and Citizenship, has appeared before the inquisition of Sophy Ridge of Sky News, where he was asked if he would condemn any move by the Trump gang to annex Greenland. “We’re not going to give a running commentary”. Christ on a bike. And it got worse.
He couldn’t say Trump should not invade Greenland? “Diplomacy is delicate, which means we're not here to give a running commentary in the news”. It’s not an intellectually demanding call. Flagrant breaches of international law should be condemned. And what of the UK’s Prime Minister?
Here it comes, per the Guardian. “I want to get all the material facts together and we simply haven’t got the full picture at the moment - it is fast moving”. Meaning he spewed out a word salad of excuses rather than show a hint of backbone. Also, he needed to talk to Trump first. And there we all were believing that the UK was a sovereign state. Silly us, eh?
Steven Swinford of the Murdoch Times has, since then, asserted “Britain will refrain from criticising the US over the capture of Maduro amid concerns about angering Donald Trump”. Airstrip One Redux. He wants to seek closer relationships with the EU, but with his tongue firmly up Trump’s arse, the EU might not want to know. Diplomacy is delicate, dontcha know?
What will it take for New New Labour to get it? Invasion of Greenland? Invasion of Colombia? Handing Ukraine to Putin? Voters who have left Labour will not be returning if this is the level of leadership on show.

From a film by the late Rob Reiner. A great human being. Needless to say, hated by Quislings, McSweeney and other tories.

Tim, please stop your repetitive evident pleasure at the imminence of our collective doom.
Some poor bastards can't cope with it.

Even by his, and his govts, low, low, standards, this reaction to Trumps aggression and flagrant ignoring of international law, is desperate stuff.
As people are saying, what will it take for Neville Mk2 to grow a spine? The invasion of Columbia? Of Panama? Of Greenland? Of Canada? The govts craven, cowardly, response simply emboldens the Orange Adolf.
Not to mention of course, China are now thinking, why not Taiwan? Putin probably did a hopak on his desk, while fist pumping his generals.
Diplomacy is indeed delicate, but a collective show of defiance now would stand us in good stead for the future. Instead we get jellyspine and his jelly baby army whimpering like whipped dogs....
Feeble, feeble, feeble.
2026: New Year. Fresh Start. Fresh Fuck Up.
Has no one on Starmer's staff got a brain?
Oo look....Outright fascism is getting more "nuanced" by the hour.....

That's easy Bertie. No.
Gutless Starmer sucking up to the 'Epstein Regime' marks another low on his record. Just wait for another obvious breach in international law committed by US and Israel and his usual response will be 'waiting to establish the facts' rather than outright condemnation.
If we are not going to live by a system of international law, we are going to live by international anarchy. Then no people anywhere in the world are safe… You cannot be selective in your defence of law—you cannot say, “I like that law, I will uphold that one, I will not uphold the other.”
No, it was Margaret Thatcher after the Israelis smote Iraq even unto their nuclear reactor.
Not just that, but the monstrous old bat said it in an interview with the Jewish Chronicle FFS!
Not only just that, but the hideous old crone was the MP for really-quite-Jewish Finchley!
When will we see her like again?
(Cue our more obtuse readers to honk accusations of Thatcher worship)
The Starmer Quislings are still cowering behind the Westminster couch.
Meanwhile, the BBC capitalist state medium has issued these instructions to its propaganda clerks:

Britain 2026. A Vidkum Quisling "tribute" act. White flags on every lampost.
..."and like some monstrous, hideous, slimy toad, with poisonous hate oozing from every pore, the creature emerged from the swamp". Yes, another triumph for Starmers useless army, according to the latest polls - the monstrosity that is Badenochs Tory party, is back.
This wretched cowardly British political class. A piece of shit smeared on global history.

For his own mental equilibrium, isn't it time Tankie's mum thought of restricting his screen time a little?
Former ambassador Craig Murray gets it right, as usual.
