5 Transpennine Express – Don’t Panic! Press and broadcasters got themselves into a terrible froth over nine trains being transferred south next year. But the whole picture showed that commuters had nothing to worry about.

4 Mail Suckered – Let’s Blame Brian The legendarily foul mouthed Paul Dacre began to figure out that his attack on three senior Labour figures was providing the distraction to allow the Tories to keep the resignation and arrest of Patrick Rock quiet. So who gets blamed? Leveson – who had nothing to do with it.

3 Toby Young’s Kiss Of Death The loathsome Tobes supported a new military-style Free School in Oldham. He told how it would be A Very Good Thing. Then the scheme collapsed. Where was Toby Young? Absent and silent.

2 Child Porn Arrest – What Did They Know? After the news of Patrick Rock’s arrest emerged, the questions followed. Did the Tories use the their porn filter campaign as a smokescreen? Were their MPs kept quiet to let the Mail kick Labour over the NCCL with no distraction? And did Paul Dacre discover Rock’s story some days previously? We’ll find out eventually.
