Top Six – November 3

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, I have kitchen cleaning stuff to do. So there.
6 First They Came For The Guardian Much of the press complain about potential political interference. Then the Tories started bullying the deeply subversive Guardian. So the same papers stopped complaining and cheered them on. Hypocrisy, much?

5 Littlejohn Handed His Arse On A Plate Dacre dinosaur Richard Littlejohn clumsily went after Ms Jack Monroe, liberally dispensing whoppers as he went, but in the process let slip that he was totally out of touch with how ordinary people live. That’s the ordinary people that read his rants. Not a good situation to be in, Dick.

4 Dan, Dan The Deleted Man MEP and occasional Tory Daniel Hannan penned a hatchet job on Jonathan Portes, for the heinous sin of dealing in facts. Sadly, as with so many Hannan hatchetings, it was filled with plenty of whoppers. So no change there, then.

3 HS2 – Another Silly Alternative The latest “look over there” alternative to the HS2 project is reopening, or perhaps that should read reconstructing, the Great Central Main Line from London to Sheffield and Manchester, much of which has been closed for more than 47 years. And here’s why it would cost a lot more than suggested.

2 Guido Fawked – Private Eye Cover Spin The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines and his rabble at the Guido Fawkes blog asserted that the Metropolitan Police were seeking to “remove” copies of the latest Private Eye from a news stand outside Farringdon Station. They weren’t. Another fine mess.

1 Don’t Menshn Contempt Of Court As the “hacking trial” began, former Tory MP and compulsive know-all Louise Mensch decided to share her knowledge of what the Judge had said about contempt. And that knowledge was, as so often, laughably deficient. Those pesky facts, eh?

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
