Top Six – July 15

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, I’m off for a walk later to catch the nice weather before it rains again. So there.

6 Plastic Brits – It’s Just Not Cricket The sniffy hacks at the Maily Telegraph were not at all happy that some of Team GB were not born in the UK, but didn’t raise an eyebrow about all the England cricketers born overseas. What a surprise. Not.

5 Littlejohn And Another Foot In Mouth Howler The Daily Mail’s million pound churnalist ranted about the Police not being part of the community they served, and being like an alien force, but between him cobbling together his copy and publication, a local policeman was shot dead acting to save a fellow member of the community he served. No apology has yet been offered. Dick is still a dick.

4 Guido Fawked – Totally Wrong On LIBOR The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines and his tame gofer, the flannelled fool Henry Cole, went after Shriti Vadera and Pa Broon over the Barclays rate fixing saga, only for the man from the Bank of England to testify that they had nothing to do with it. Another fine mess.

3 Now Open Europe Wants Us In The EU Yes, even the arch-sceptic folks at Open Europe are advising caution over talk of the UK exiting the EU, as their director Mats Persson told in the Maily Telegraph. There was the usual rabid response from the sewer of commenters, rather than any kind of pause for thought. No change there.

2 Mel And Her Class A Mind Messing In order to put paid to any move towards drug decriminalisation, the Daily Mail’s legendarily foul mouthed editor sent Melanie “not just Barking but halfway to Upminster” Phillips over the top to frighten the readers and stiffen their spines against such ideas. Here’s why she was talking rubbish. As usual.

1 Guido Fawked – One More In The Eye The Laurel and Hardy of the blogosphere found themselves in Private Eye for their hypocrisy over taking money from the Russian Government while accusing MP Chris Bryant of doing something similar. So then they pretended to have known about it all along, by talking of Labour MPs who were their “sources”. But they were making it all up. Another fine mess, once again.

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
