George Galloway And No Russia Connection

The recent behaviour of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and his gangsterist régime in the Kremlin has left its mark on the world of social media, not least the decision of Twitter to flag accounts as “Russia state-affiliated media” for their links to Vlad the Invader via media outlets such as RT. So it was that former MP George Galloway found his Twitter account thus labelled, and it was soon clear that The Great Man didn’t like it one bit.

Why does he always wear that hat?

Dear [Twitter Support] I am not ‘Russian State Affiliated media’. I work for NO #Russian media. I have 400,000 followers. I’m the leader of a British political party and spent nearly 30 years in the British parliament. If you do not remove this designation I will take legal action”. he thundered. Would that be like the legal action he was going to take after failing to win the Batley and Spen by-election? The kind where nothing happened?

Whatever. Galloway then attempted to appeal over the heads of those overseeing the Twitter Support feed to the platform’s newest board member. “Dear [Elon Musk] this must be removed forthwith or action will follow. We had such hopes for your new era”. But here a problem entered: Twitter appears to have had good reason for its actions.

After Sam Freedman decided that “This is the best thing twitter have ever done”, the Telegraph’s feed gave a hint as to why Galloway’s latest campaign may be about to develop not necessarily to his advantage. “George Galloway, who presents the Mother of All Talk Shows on Radio Sputnik, which is owned by the Kremlin, said he will be taking legal action against Twitter over the label”. And it wasn’t just Radio Sputnik.

Adam Schwarz cautioned The Great Man “You literally have your Russian state funded TV show listed in your profile description”, including an RT promotional image telling “SPUTNIK … orbiting the world with George Galloway … Every Saturday on RT”. But that profile description had been changed to remove the Russian state funded TV show.

Sadly for Galloway, it hadn’t been changed quickly enough, as Schwarz pointed out. “You’ve just deleted it from your profile description, so for the benefit of everyone else, here’s what it looked like 60 seconds ago with your Russian state funded RT show listed”. There they were: @rt_sputnik and @InQuestionRT. Or put another way, bang to rights.

As to the legal implications of this revelation, former Foreign Office advisor David Clark had good news for popcorn sellers, but bad news for Galloway. "I really hope he takes this to court. He’ll lose his shirt in legal costs and the discovery phase will be an absolute blast”. Especially as the discovery phase had already begun without him.

How so? Byline Times political editor Adam Bienkov showed how: “George Galloway says he's not in any way affiliated to Russian media. Here's his show on Russia Today, the most recent episode of which was posted on Saturday”. And James Felton reminded The Great Man “You can delete sputnik from your bio, but this is sputnik inviting me onto your sputnik show a few weeks back”. Someone here doth protest too much.

George Galloway’s Twitter feed still carries the warning “Russia state-affiliated media”. The characterisation may well endure. And is unlikely to be removed by legal threats.

For everyone else, it’s of little consequence. Because he’s blocked them all.

  1. A rare day that I agree with Sam Freedman, who is somewhat of a stopped clock here

  2. Where's the problem?

So what if narcissist Galloway IS part of "Russian state-affiliated media"?

Twitter doesn't label BBC Kuenssberg and her ilk as part of "British state-affiliated media", nor did it do so when Melting Blubber Neil was so employed. Nor does it do so for the C4 "News" gang. Nor does it label any of the "independent" propaganda clerks as part of "wholly owned capitalist state-affiliated media".

Odd, that.....but maybe not. After all, truth is the first casualty of war. Ask any "capitalist state-affiliated" politician in Parliament - someone with the mentality of, say, Blair or Brown - and see what "truth" you get from them. Then ask the people of Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan for an opinion.

Twitter?....An aptly-named muddy puddle of tenth rate shorthand bullshit as "independent" as the Daily Heil or the Murdoch Scum. Or RT for that matter.

The question of lying propaganda could also be levelled at the gangsterist mass murder regimes running Britain and the USA. But with their public record we know what the answer will be.

Galloway?.....A puffed-up dickhead full of his own "charisma". Which alone qualifies him for a place in British corporate media, state-affiliated" or not. He's the very least of a motley crew of liars and bought-and-paid-for charlatans.

  3. Fair enough. He is earning a living working from a (shitty) state owned media. But for fairness, I think everyone working for BBC News should have the same label.

Aw, come on Anonymous, you're just jealous of Galloway because *you* haven't been nominated as “Russia state-affiliated media” for your years of contributions here on Zelo Street.

Give it time, recognition will come.

  5. I think Mr Galloway has worn a hat since he was hospitalized when badly beaten up in London. He suffered a broken jaw and other injuries. Perhaps his head is scarred?

  6. Nobody has taken Dear George seriously since his car-crash cringe audience with Saddam Hussein.

Mind you, he did brilliantly in front of the US Senate Inquiry when to their faces he called them out for the gang of Hypocritical Warmongering Suits they were. Still his own worst enemy though.

  8. If Georgie-Boy thought the appointment of Space Karen to the board of Twitter was going to make the slightest difference to corporate policy he's even dafter than I previously suspected.
