Tories - Backing The Wrong Horse

Among those watching events unfold in the USA, as some analysts begin to break ranks and declare Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election, disregarding all the threatened lawsuits from the Trump Gang - evidence would be useful here, guys - will be alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson and his ministerial gofers.

Evening all

And what confronts them is not what they want to see: Biden, a catholic with Irish roots, will not brook any screwing with the Belfast accords. Bozo and his pals are in the process of passing the Internal Market Bill, aka the Polecat Enabling Act, which will allow them to do just that. And if Joe says no to that, he may also say no to that trade deal.

Er, cripes chaps ... oo-er!

Bozo is, like Combover Crybaby Donald Trump, a rank populist who has been subjected to very little parental, or indeed any other kind of control. Both are congenital liars; both are interested only in the promotion of Themselves Personally Now; both are vindictive SOBs who crave applause and behave spitefully and bitterly towards those not giving it.

Several Tories have followed their leader and indicated a preference for the Trump Gang which will be extremely difficult for them to reconcile with a Biden victory. Starting with the likes of Andrew Rosindell, who represents Romford, Tweeting out an unpleasantly pejorative image suggesting an equivalence between a Biden Presidency and Soviet-era Russia (and what was he doing in Camberwell at 0300 hours?), it just gets worse.

Last September, Scott Benton, who sits for Blackpool South, sneered “Joe Biden is no friend of Britain. His Irish republican sympathies and ignorant comments on Brexit and the peace process are another reminder of why he’d be an awful President and undermine our special relationship with the US”. That one will already be in the debit column.

As may be Michael Fabricant, the MP for Lichfield, who, accompanied by his Irish, managed to quote Tweet Donald Trump junior threatening “The best thing for America’s future is for [Donald Trump] to go to total war over this election to expose all of the fraud, cheating, dead/no longer in state voters, that has been going on for far too long. It’s time to clean up this mess & stop looking like a banana republic!” Uday Hussein speaks.

Worse still, Bozo’s foreign secretary Dominic Raab has declined to confirm that all ballots in the US elections should be counted, with Bozo’s spokesman telling “As [we have] said a number of times over the last few days… We have confidence in the checks and balances of the US system, but the count is ongoing and you obviously wouldn’t expect us to speculate on the outcome”. Not bothered about Joe? He may not be bothered about us.

Especially when you have Bozo’s cheerleaders at the increasingly alt-right Spectator magazine, with editor Fraser Nelson sniffing “Biden sleepwalks to the White House : Freddy Gray on the finale”. The most grudging acceptance of electoral reality ever.

Our Government appears to have backed the wrong horse. I’ll just leave that one there.

  1. Bojo has gone running back to the EU in the hope of reviving trade negotiations, now that Trump looks certain to lose the election.

  2. I'd find it delicious if Biden chose to deal with the EU rather than the UK and the UK was left out in the cold.

  3. “Congratulations to Boris Johnson on his great WIN!” Trump tweeted on 13 Dec 2019. “This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the EU. Celebrate Boris!”
