Once again, alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson made sure his pals in the media knew that, at long last, he was going to prevail. There would be no need for any further delay in the Brexit process, nor would he need to die in his ditch. But when the vote came, he kept up his record and lost. So he would have to send the application for another extension of the Article 50 process. The law said so.
An absolute Muppet. And Elmo from Sesame Street
But almost as soon as the vote had been taken, the spin and further braggadocio started up once more. Bozo would not send the letter. Or perhaps he would. And in any case, the dastardly French would block it anyway. So Bozo would still win. So there.
You think I jest? The odious flannelled fool Master Harry Cole, still pretending to be a real journalist, was out of the blocks before the vote. “No10 source: 'If Letwin passes, the gov and CO will step up no deal prep immediately as the risks will have increased substantially. If defeated and deal is approved, no deal preparations will start being turned off immediately and we get start getting on with an orderly Brexit.’”
Mike Galsworthy called that out. “This is rubbish. Mind you, it is reassuring to see how desperate the Govt are”. Then Paul Brand of ITV sold the pass. “Iain Duncan Smith tells me he's heard President Macron of France has already told Downing Street the EU will not grant an extension”. You never believe Duncan Cough. But he was not alone.
Beth Rigby of Sky News also got conned. “I have also been told by an MP that the PM had showed someone a text in which Macron apparently told Johnson they’d be no extension.” Like Governments communicate over such an open channel. Then it got really silly, as the supposedly impartial Andrew Neil claimed “Johnson says he will not negotiate an extension with EU”. No negotiation is involved. Calm down, everyone.
But then came reality, as Alex “Billy Liar Wickham conceded “In a phone call at 7:15pm Johnson confirmed to Tusk that the letter requesting an extension would be sent tonight”. And David Allen Green had bad news for all those who had swallowed the spin.
“Nothing in the latest tactical idiocy to cause alarm. The Benn Act letter is sent, these other reported letters legally inconsequential. Seems clever, and will impress the easily impressed, but nothing to worry about … Had Tusk said the letters made UK position unclear, and clarification needed, then there would be a real problem. But, no. Side letter disregarded and Benn Act request accepted immediately. The ‘multiple letters’ line just for media consumption”. Donald Tusk has acknowledged receipt. End of story.
James O’Brien was unimpressed. “I sent the letter I swore I’d never send but I didn’t sign it because that way newspapers owned by the Barclay brothers, Rupert Murdoch, Viscount Rothermere & ((this still stuns me)) the Mirror Group can pretend I’m not a chiselling coward”. And Richard Murphy was left shaking his head at the idiocy.
“Boris Johnson is so stupid he does not seem to realise that by signing a second letter to the EU last night he acknowledged both the existence and validity of the Benn Act letter he churlishly refused to sign, so indicating his consent to it, whatever he says”.
Bozo and Polecat Dom got headlines. But they lost. What you will not read in the papers.

But did he put a stamp on the envelope?
ReplyDeleteFunny how all the Spartans of the Idiot Research Group fell over selves to support an even worse deal than Tezza's, with Steve 'Invisible' Barclay 's DxEU not willing to show any impact assessments to MPs, knowing it will be more catastrophic than expected.
ReplyDeleteThen Dominic Raab claiming the Tories are the defenders of workers rights...
Charlatans, liars and frauds...
"I have been told"..."...someone showed...".
ReplyDeleteTop "reporting", that. Along with the bullshit "Many/some will say" used by corporate media righty propaganda clerks bent on a hatchet job and a cheap on-screen provocation. Tabloid TV and radio as bad as the standard press model.
Said clerks aren't being "duped". They know full well hearsay is as illegitimate in honest reporting as it is in a court of law. It's how cowards lie and try to hide the truth.
But of course honest reporting is almost extinct in corrupt Britain 2019.
“I sent the letter I swore I’d never send but I didn’t sign it because that way newspapers owned by the Barclay brothers, Rupert Murdoch, Viscount Rothermere & ((this still stuns me)) the Mirror Group can pretend I’m not a chiselling coward”
ReplyDeleteWho would have believed that a newspaper once owned by Robert Maxwell would come to the aid of a bloated liar with low moral standards?
Bozo signed it in crayon..
ReplyDelete“No10 source: 'If Letwin passes, the gov and CO will step up no deal prep immediately as the risks will have increased substantially. If defeated and deal is approved, no deal preparations will start being turned off immediately and we get start getting on with an orderly Brexit.’”
ReplyDeleteAnd that is actually what happened. Gove announced the step up of Yellowhammer no deal preparations today.
"But they lost. What you will not read in the papers."
ReplyDeleteReally? Every single paper reported that the lost.

ReplyDeleteThe right wing jingo rags are presenting Bozo as a victim not a loser.
To 12:50.
ReplyDeleteThe Mirror stopped being "centrist" when it was immediately sold after it published the headline ROTTEN TO THE CORE......which was its response to Heseltine's announcement of pit closures which destroyed tens of thousands of lives and their communities. Closures forecast years before by Arthur Scargill. The victims and their descendants still live with the consequences. The Mirror has been crypto-right wing ever since. The days of Hugh Cudlipp and John Pilger long gone.
As for Heseltine - the Plant A Tree Minister - the guy's an utter hypocritical fraud. Anybody who thinks he underwent a Damascene conversion is living in cloud cuckoo land. He's a Thatcherite tory of the worst kind and always will be. Tories never change, they just sink lower - even when you think they can't...for evidence of which see the current lying spivs temporarily in Downing Street.
