Rupert Murdoch has made little secret of his support for Combover Crybaby Donald Trump. This has led his papers to either talk up the occasionally creditworthy act from the US President, while either ignoring or dismissing the many less creditworthy ones. Over in the USA, Fox News Channel (fair and balanced my arse) promotes Trump shamelessly. But then came the Jeffrey Epstein scandal - and the latter’s death.
Epstein, a former financier, was convicted in 2008 of procuring an under-18 girl for the purposes of prostitution. As many as 36 girls as young as 14 were identified as having been molested by him. He was in prison after being charged with sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York when he died last weekend in an apparent suicide.
Among the swirl of conspiracy theories has been the knowledge that Epstein’s circle of close associates included Trump. How would the Murdoch mafiosi avoid talking about this less than minor detail? Simples. They link Epstein to one of their hate figures, via a relative of another of their hate figures. Trump in the clear; job done.
And that is what can be seen on the front page of today’s Sun, with the headline “Exclusive: lurid new claim … CLOONEY ‘SEX ACT WITH EPSTEIN LOVER’ … Hollywood legend dragged into scandal”. Epstein no longer linked to Trump, but to George Clooney, whom the Murdoch goons detest with a passion.
How convenient is that? And how exclusive? Well, it’s not exclusive at all, except in the sense that there is so little in the story that no-one else bothered to run it. This is what the paper claims. “GEORGE Clooney was sensationally accused of a sex act with the ex-lover of Prince Andrew’s paedo pal Jeffrey Epstein overnight. The star, 58, was dragged into the scandal after Epstein’s jail death”. Dragged into it by the Sun to distract from Trump.
Well, look who's here
But do go on. “Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of recruiting young girls for the US financier perv, is claimed to have boasted about performing a sex act on the screen idol in a toilet”. Accused by whom? “He was named by ex-Epstein ‘sex slave’ Virginia Giuffre in a manuscript of her memoirs released by a New York court”. But there is a problem here.
“It is not known when the alleged incident between Maxwell and Clooney may have taken place … There is no suggestion that Clooney was involved in under-age sex or sex parties held by billionaire Epstein or involved in any wrongdoing … Virginia’s manuscript, which she drafted in 2011, featured in a defamation court case she fought against Maxwell … Lawyers for both sides had said it was ‘fictionalised’”. And there is more.
Captain Bob died 28 years ago. But Murdoch never forgets
Ghislaine Maxwell is the youngest child of disgraced publisher Robert Maxwell; he and Murdoch cordially detested one another. What better way to indulge in a little vindictiveness than to use her presence to take the heat off The Donald?
George Clooney has no connection whatever to Jeffrey Epstein. None. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Donald Trump, on the other hand, most certainly does. And being linked to someone who had a habit of procuring very young girls is not where a US President needs to be.
How convenient, then, that the President’s pal Rupe can steer the public’s gaze elsewhere. Even more convenient when Rupe’s enemies get a kicking into the bargain.

Isn't it odd how often these lethal coincidences happen?
ReplyDeleteYou know, like Roberto Calvi and Michele Sindona.
If you are a Brit with suspicious acquaintances you might be well advised not to walk through a wood (like David Kelly), hike in the Scottish Highlands (like Robin Cook), take a drink (like John "I'll Never Push The Button" Smith), go cruising (like Robert Maxwell) or end up in clink (like Max Clifford).
Ah, yes. The long, long arm of lethal coincidence reaches out yet again......
@ Anon
ReplyDeleteOr Russians "with suspicious acquaintances" that know too much going too near balcony windows or just disappearing without trace?
It's a worldwide phenomenon!
How Epstein gained his wealth is now being investigated for possible "foreign influences" and use of "kompromat".
But hard evidence you know!
Rupert Murdoch is famously quoted..or mis-quoted- as saying "Donald Trump is a moron". I can believe it though. That's how Rupert likes them. So much easier to handle than the smart ones.
ReplyDeleteIt's the RUSSIANS I tell you, the RUSSIANS!
ReplyDeleteThey're responsible for everything. Murdoch says so, so it must be true.
@Anon 13:09
ReplyDeleteLol.
You forgot the Iranians, Israelis, Saudis and let us also not forget the Chinese. It’s crazy, mixed up shook up world!
Alan Clifford, or Alanonymous perhaps, can always be counted on to defend Russia against everything. With much 'Im so much smarter than you all!' and so on.
ReplyDeleteMoving on, Clooney of all people? How could someone takes issue with... What's next? Saying Tom Hanks is a secret killer? Maybe Sully purposely crashed his plane for the insurance? Mr. Rodgers liked to kick dogs into the ocean?
