The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines and his rabble at the Guido Fawkes blog have been in especially righteous form in their mission to expose alleged anti-Semitism, their latest effort being combined with another Fawkes mission, that to discredit the hated BBC, which will stand Staines in good stead with his real master - Rebekah Brooks.
After the Beeb hosted a debate between the surviving candidates for the Tory Party leadership yesterday evening, The Great Guido rubbished the show generally, telling readers “Debate Mess Means BBC Could Miss Out On Next Round” (the Murdoch mafiosi will throw him a whole packet of biscuits for that one), but before that came “Abdullah From Bristol Wants To Know ‘Does The Panel Agree Words Have Consequences?’”
Abdullah Patel addressed his question particularly to London’s formerly very occasional Mayor Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, and his comments on Muslim women. Bozza did not adequately address the issue of his tendency to loose language, which also pertains to the case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, still imprisoned in Iran solely because Bozza was not on top of his brief and didn’t think before opening his trap.
For allowing this question to be put, host Emily Maitlis was attacked. Patel’s social media history was pounced upon. Use of the word “Zionist” was paraded with that level of nudge-nudgery that only the Fawkes massive can muster. And his use of the “Relocate Israel Into United States” meme - which was devised by a Jew - was clearly the pièce de résistance. More anti-Semitism! Except there is a problem here.
Staines and his pals had no problem dabbling in anti-Semitism when it was Ed Miliband on the receiving end, as witness two particularly nasty PMQs sketches, one of which told “Every week Cameron looks easier, calmer, more in control of his party, his policy and his election plan – and every week his opponent dances at the despatch box like a spastic marionette … Ed kept asking, his convulsive string master taking another swig of the meths”. Marionette. Puppet master. And the second?
You’ll love this one. “Miliband is no Messiah. Pious, yes. Other-worldly, yes. Crucifixion-material, yes”. Talk of a “Messiah”. Someone who is “Other worldly”, and who is “Crucifixion material”. Deliberate use of anti-Semitic tropes. And the veering across the anti-Semitism line did not stop when Mil The Younger returned to the back benches.
The Fawkes rabble was only too keen to promote Steve Bannon, whose links to the far-right are well-known. The ADL said of Bannon “Bannon … has expressed his enthusiasm for the alt right, a loose network of individuals and groups that promote white identity and reject mainstream conservatism in favor of politics that embrace implicit or explicit racism, anti-Semitism and white supremacy”. What a surprise.
And when disgraced Tory MP Aidan Burley decided not to contest his seat at the 2015 General Election, there was Staines going for a consolation drink with him. Burley’s fall from grace came after he was caught participating in a Nazi-themed stag party in the French ski resort of Val Thorens - which featured a participant dressed in an SS uniform, Nazi salutes, and suitably offensive chanting.
Can it get worse? Indeed it can. When Jeremy Corbyn attended a Seder hosted by radical Jewish group Jewdas, the Fawkes blog’s attack on the Labour leader deliberately omitted the group’s Jewish identity. Inferring Jews and not really Jews. That’s another anti-Semitic trope to go with all the others that The Great Guido has peddled recently.
But the Fawkes rabble is only too keen to go after one of those Scary Muslims™ who uses the Z-Word. Away with you Staines - you’re just full of shit.

Abdullah now knows words have consequences. Brilliant OG.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that his views are considered rational among "scary Muslims", that is the problem, not "islamophobia"!
There's one very fitting succinct description of tories: Where there's no sense there's no feeling.
ReplyDeleteLast night's "debate" demonstrated just how appalling are these people.
Even worse was Maitlis, who each day looks and sounds more and more like the witch in The Wizard of Oz. The incoherent biro-stabbing gimp.
An excellent example of why this country has become the laughing stock of the world. And it will get yet worse if Johnson gets to be PM.
What a sickening, greedy apathetic nation we are. Well done, Etonian capitalism.
Now Hatey Katie and washed-up unemployable former radio gob Jon Gaunt have waded in. No prizes for guessing which side they are on
ReplyDeleteAnd it's worked. The BBC are distancing themselves from it, arguing had they known about Abdullah Patel's twitter history they would never have invited him on, whilst he has been suspended from his job as a deputy head. Potentially, an in all likelihood good honest man's career has gone down the tubes becasue he dared to challenge Boris Johnson on national TV. When will we wake up to the fact that criticising Israel is not anti-semitic?
ReplyDeleteMaitlis and Kuenssberg would be better off working at Fox News. Then again, the BBC IS Fox News now
ReplyDeleteGiven BBC continuous right wing propaganda and wall-to-wall employment of propaganda clerk righties, who's to say the responsible parties already knew of Abdullah's opinions and set him up for a fall?......And guess to whose advantage......
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be the first BBC deception. Remember when they reversed footage during the Miners Strike to show miners "attacking" police - when in fact it was the other way round?......And guess to whose advantage......
BBC "News and Politics" long ago lost all credibility.
