The Labour Party, so the right-wing press would have us believe, is the only major party which harbours racists in its ranks. Tories, Lib Dems, Greens, and even UKIP get a free pass on the issue right now. This is the received wisdom that the Press and Pundit Establishment wishes the public to take on board. It is also a pack of lies.
While that same press was lecturing the Labour leadership on the subject of anti-Semitism, it was also indulging in a little anti-Semitic activity of its own. The increasingly desperate and downmarket Telegraph previously had to call an all hands meeting to tell its staff that the paper’s attack on George Soros wasn’t really anti-Semitic (wrong), and then got caught running the “Jewish bankers” trope.
That was an article in the paper’s Travel section which stated “Only three countries on the planet don’t have a central bank owned or controlled by the Rothschild family”. It then listed Cuba, North Korea, and Iran. Even press non-regulator IPSO was not prepared to wipe their backsides over that one. The Mail also has recent form on anti-Semitism.
The Dacre doggies’ attack on the memory of Ralph Miliband - “The Man Who Hated Britain” - relied at its core on another old anti-Semitic trope, that of “The Disloyal Jew”. The Mail also told its readers “We do not maintain, like the jealous God of Deuteronomy, that the iniquity of the fathers should be visited on the sons. But when a son with prime ministerial ambitions swallows his father’s teachings, as the younger Miliband appears to have done, the case is different”. Old Testament God and bad blood in one.
And those papers that have been so ready to indulge in their own sly anti-Semitism are now excusing a cruder Tory racism. Like the party having “reinstated a candidate who won a seat in Sunderland who had been suspended over offensive social media posts, including one about Diane Abbott from several years ago”.
Yeah, it’s only Diane Abbott, where’s your sense of humour? I mean, the bloke only called her “A filthy, bulbous pig”. That doesn’t disbar someone from the Tory Party.
And there was worse to come, as the Guardian has told: “A former mayor whose reinstatement gave the Conservatives control of a council by one seat has ‘sincerely apologised’ over a racial Facebook joke which saw her suspended from the party, the Press Association reports. Rosemary Carroll, who made a post comparing an Asian with a dog last June, rejoined ‘as the votes were being counted’ on Friday, giving the Tories narrow control of Pendle council in Lancashire”.
What was that about Labour being racist? The Tories suspend members for racist behaviour, but if they win elections and the party needs the votes, they are magically restored to respectability and are readmitted. The stench of rank hypocrisy is everywhere.
The Tories are riddled with racism. So are their cheerleaders in the press. The Blue Team has had a racism problem for decades. And it still has that problem. End of story.
What else to expect from tories?
ReplyDeleteHaving instigated a false inflammatory racist "illegal immigration issue", they now cower behind accusations against others. It's the oldest flim-flam conman scam in their book of lies.
Naturally, their monopoly owned far right media clerks repeat it as "news".
Elmer Gantry had fuck all compared to these cowardly gobshites.
Anybody who falls for it deserves the kind of goverment they get. And sooner or later they too get looted. Nothing is more certain. If you think the last Depression was bad - wait until you experience the next one. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
The mendacious British media's perverted campaigns against Labour & Corbyn could not be better illustrated than the appalling MailOnline / Dail Mail with their headline:
ReplyDelete"Get back in your box woman" Labour's John McDonnell embroiled in extraordinary election night election row with Tory Minister Claire Perry etc etc.
Nowhere in the article does it say McDonell actually said these words while the headline sneakily implies he did.
He said no such thing. By only watching the video which few people bother to do would you realise that in fact Perry said this.
