Today marks the centenary of the Royal Air Force, the world’s oldest independent air force, formed towards the end of the Great War out of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service. The RAF’s most significant contribution to defending Britain came during the Battle of Britain in 1940, fought in the skies over Kent. So it was that one self-proclaimed patriot decided to use the centenary for his own propaganda ends.
Squeaky Luftwaffe finger up the bum time
Which, in Kent, means former UKIP OberscheissenfĂĽhrer Nigel “Thirsty” Farage, who has shamelessly used the RAF centenary to promote Himself Personally Now. First, he leapt aboard Lord Ashcroft’s bandwagon - Ashcroft is doing some real historic detail on the force - and then told his followers that he was off to the Shoreham Air Force museum to meet someone who actually flew as a pilot in the Battle of Britain.
Mr Thirsty recorded his own tribute to “The Few”, and proudly Tweeted out “Tomorrow marks 100 years since the foundation of the RAF. The placard reads: ‘Above this garden the Battle of Britain was fought and won. July 10th to October 31st 1940.’ ‘Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few - W.S.Churchill 1940’ #RAF100”. Thus he attempted to lay claim to the mantle of true patriotism.
And it was all so much sanctimonious claptrap. Had he been around during the Second World War, Farage would probably have been on the same side as Lord Haw-Haw. While he and his pals rail at migration from eastern Europe, they manage to miss that many of those pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain were from Poland and the former Czechoslovakia. They fought to defend Britain. Nige won’t be commemorating them.
It gets worse: Farage has been such an ardent supporter of the European far-right that he appeared at a rally of Germany’s AfD held at Spandau Citadel last September. His invitation came from Beatrix von Storch, an AfD MEP who is a granddaughter of Hitler’s finance minister, Lutz von Krosigk. Ms von Storch has called on European border guards to use firearms to deter illegal immigrants, including women and children.
And worse: Nige has also given his backing to those recently barred from Britain, such as Lauren Southern. As Hope Not Hate pointed out, “Faith Goldy, whom Southern has made multiple videos with and who she worked closely together with at Rebel Media, has appeared on extreme right media outlet Red Ice TV and on a podcast by the neo-nazi Daily Stormer site”. Mr Thirsty backs white supremacist no shock horror.
This is who he backs right now ...
Worse still, Farage backed the far-right Freedom Party in Austria, endorsing its candidate from that country’s Presidential election in 2016. Sadly, though, he also claimed that if elected, Norbert Hofer would call a referendum on Austria’s membership of the EU. This may have contributed to Hofer losing the contest, as the EU is popular in Austria.
... which show who he'd have backed in World War 2
Nigel Farage is an ocean-going hypocrite. He claims to back the memory of The Few, but his recent political gestures show that his preference in the dark days of 1940 would have been for another far-right Austrian - the one from Braunau am Inn.
He isn’t a patriot. He isn’t even a very naughty boy. He’s a phoney of the lowest kind.
Welcome to Britain 2018.
ReplyDeleteNigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Tony Blair, Hilary Benn, Theresa May, Vince Cable, Daily Mail, the Sun, Times and Telegraph "news"papers, Murdoch, Rothermere, Canary Wharf, BBC/ITN "News" and all the other far right fellow travellers. All of them different parts of the same rotting corpse.
A corrupt, racist, seedy nation with no sense of shame or decency. Well down the road to self-implosion and a junta. The only question is how long it will take.
Very similar to that other far-right racist Nick Griffin (remember him?) who also used the British armed forces for political advantage.
ReplyDeleteRemember how he once proudly stood in front of an RAF Spitfire? Had the bigot done his homework, he'd have realised it belonged to No 303 sqn, a POLISH RAF squadron. It even had a Polish roundel on the engine cowling!
Both Grifin and Farage are rancid peas from the same diseased pod. Plastic patriots who in reality would sell their fellow countrymen and women down the river in a heartbeat.
Nige ain't all that good when it comes to planes...

Anonymous, that's England 2018 not Britain.
ReplyDelete@The Toffee,
ReplyDeleteI never understood why Farrago was trying to re-create the opening titles of World Of Sport in the first place.
Anonymous 1 - that sort of nonsense doesn't help anyone. All those other twats you mentioned are indeed twats (except the usual "MSM" nonsense) , but far right bellends are a mile apart from most of the people you mention. Get a grip.
