Breitbart Backs Another Paedophile

It was only back in September that Raheem “call me Ray” Kassam, one of those making up the convocation of the irredeemably batshit otherwise known as Breitbart, was throwing his weight, and that of his pal Nigel “Thirsty” Farage, behind Judge Roy Moore, who had secured the nomination to run for the GOP in the election for the US Senate, the Alabama seat having been vacated by Jeff Sessions’ elevation to US Attorney General.
Pretentious? Who, moi?

Kassam wanted the world to know he and his pals were big supporters of Moore. He predicted a Moore victory. He promoted Moore. Breitbart promoted Moore. Steve Bannon promoted Moore. Farage promoted Moore. Fox News Channel (fair and balanced my arse) had Moore eleven points ahead of his Democrat challenger. But all in the garden of Breitbart’s latest favourite was not at all rosy.
Last week, “the Washington Post reported that Moore had inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 1979 when he took her to his house and made her touch his genitals. The Alabama Republican has insisted the report is ‘fake news and intentional defamation’”. Some Republicans were merely concerned. Others, “like Arizona Senator John McCain have said Moore should immediately drop out”.
By Friday, things had got much worse: “As the GOP cut its funding for the Alabama Senate candidate - up for election in one month’s time - two senators who had previously announced their endorsement of him, Mike Lee of Utah and Steve Daines of Montana pulled their support”. The woman making the complaint claimed “that Moore met her several times in 1979 when she was 14 and he was a local prosecutor aged 32”.
Moore fought back, enlisting the assistance of professional loudmouth Sean Hannity. But things got worse still: “Three other women interviewed by the Washington Post said Moore, now 70, approached them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s”. Then Moore put his foot in it big time, admitting “after my return from the military, I dated a lot of young ladies”. It sounded bad. It was bad.
Of one of those interviewed, he claimed “I know her but I don’t remember going out on dates. I knew her as a friend”, but then changed tack: “I don’t remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother”. Mitt Romney has joined McCain by asserting “Moore is unfit for office and should step aside”. And once again, the batshit Breitbarts have backed someone with apparently questionable morals.
Squeaky bad judgment finger up the bum time

For so long, they stood by Milo Yiannopoulos, whose disgraceful conduct was well known, whose business dealings were the stuff of legendary dishonesty and ineptitude, and who eventually sprayed his credibility up the wall by approving of paedophilia. Now they have been caught backing another seriously dodgy character. Worse, they have roped Farage in, too. What has Nige had to say? Not a lot - not yet, anyway.

But they want everyone to know that the bad guys are over there on the left. And if you believe that, you’ll believe anything.
