Those who look in regularly on Zelo Street will recall the occasions last month when (fortunately) former Tory MP Louise Mensch sold the pass in no style at all, firstly by being exposed in a Wikileaks release as shilling for Hillary Clinton while pretending to be a champion of the “Alt-Right”, and then censoring her own contributors on the Heat Street website. This last caused her to be denounced for peddling “controlled opposition”.

What the people at the Ralph Retort, among others, meant by that term was that Ms Mensch was effectively constraining free speech by overruling her staff. Christi Junior’s criticism ended with this comment: “Considering how Heat Street’s whole business model has basically been to cash in on the Anti-SJW backlash, being exposed like this could actually really hurt it. I would not be the least surprised if the original … article soon gets brought back – and if Rupert Murdoch hasn’t gone senile yet, I expect to see Louise Mensch get fired soon”. That point may have just been reached.
The first sign that all may not be well was when Ms Mensch’s Twitter feed vanished from public view. As can be seen, it has now been taken Private. Also worth noting is that the Bio states merely “Conservative. Feminist. Optimist. Patriot”. There is no mention at any point of Heat Street, merely of her former presence at the Guardian’s Comment Is Free site - yes, the paper she has recently spent so much time slagging off.
This comes after Ms Mensch bafflingly first leaned towards Hillary Clinton, and then later in the US Presidential campaign began shilling for the almost unknown Independent Conservative candidate Evan McMullin, who did not even get on the ballot in many states. He had been thought to have a chance in Utah - McMullin is an adherent of the Mormon church - but the state and its Electoral College votes were won by Donald Trump.
And Trump was the preferred candidate of the Murdoch mafiosi, who bankroll Heat Street. So where is she featuring right now on her own website? The answer is that she isn’t: right now, everything on the Heat Street front page is authored by someone else. Her Twitter actions before taking her feed private don’t look good, either.
Last weekend, she trilled “After victory lap with #NeverTrump, I am locking this account. Played 4, won 4, time to retire”. Trump then won. It was no better earlier today when she announced “Leonard Cohen’s death reminds us that America’s enduring greatness is as multifaceted as diamond. Russia has nothing. Russia is joyless”.
Leonard Cohen was Canadian.
Perhaps Louise Mensch is merely taking a holiday, or perhaps I should say vacation. Perhaps not. Heat Street is languishing in the rankings - and hardly registering in the UK - while at the same time consuming hundreds of thousands of Dollars to keep it going.
As Winshton might have put it, “this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”. It’s looking for all the world as if Louise Mensch has been forcibly separated from her own website. No surprise there, then.
To paraphrase another publication:
ReplyDeleteLouise Mensch is unwell.
Awwwww. And I was having so much fun watching it, and her, tank. Maybe she has joined Tim Hunt on gardening leave. Both have been put out to pasture for being too damn stupid.
ReplyDeleteDing dong the witch is dead!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that her "connections" with all things spooky (as revealed by her inside knowledge of the Guardian's HD run in with the spooks hah!) will also come to an end?
ReplyDeleteSerious point. If the FBI have been seen to influence the outcome of the recent US election in favour of Putin's glove puppet where does that leave GCHQ et all on this side of the pond and May having Farage as our go between? Are with now calloborating with the russkies as well as the City aiding them with laundering dodgy stuff?
Is it me or has Mrs Mensch's profile pic been replaced with one of a creepy clown?
ReplyDeleteDid its job, didn't it?
ReplyDeleteAdd to the mood music in order to instigate the New Totalitarianism, then wind it down when it becomes surplus to requirements.
Lady Chicklit can now retire to her Manhattan penthouse to spend more time with her good friend Charlie.
Certainly not here to defend her, just to update your story.
ReplyDeleteShe is currently naming you, your story and denying she's been sacked and Murdoch has pulled the plug. She has a web round up on the site today.
That Guardian link has actually been up there for a while for some reason.
Can't remember the exact reason for locking her account, but she said she would no matter what the outcome of US election.
I can get you screen grabs if need be.
Today she has been retweeting a lot of Trump comments and asking if Putin will be extraditing Snowden to face execution for treason like Trump says he deserves.
Think I'd better remain anonymous in case she sees this and blocks me.
