Heat Street Boris Defence Busted

As Zelo Street regulars will know, (thankfully) former Tory MP Louise Mensch, when not taking to Twitter in order to smear anyone and everyone who incurs her displeasure, has been working behind the scenes to bring those who can’t get enough right-wing rant-fests a new website called Heat Street (already, depending on your preference, nicknamed Creep Street or Hate Street), backed by Creepy Uncle Rupe himself.
A complete Muppet. And Elmo from Sesame Street

There is a promise of “No Safe spaces”, except of course for the space for Ms Mensch to generate More And Bigger Paycheques For Herself Personally Now (but safely). So what kind of offerings can readers look forward to? We get a topical taster of an answer from Miles Goslett, who has brought forthWhy Boris Johnson is not racist”. Do go on.

Johnson’s wife, the distinguished barrister Marina Wheeler QC, is the daughter of the late British journalist Sir Charles Wheeler and Dip Singh, who married in 1962 … This makes Boris Johnson’s wife, whom he married 1993, part-Indian … Are [John] McDonnell and co seriously suggesting that a white racist man would marry a part-Indian woman?

Yes? Yes yes? Yes yes yes? “Of course not … Because this has nothing to do with race … This is about the European referendum … McDonnell, [Nicholas] Soames and [Caroline] Lucas desperately want Britain to remain in the European Union, unlike Johnson (and his part-Indian wife) who think Britain should quit the EU … Therefore, they have invented a slur and jumped up and down about it to cast Johnson in a bad light”.
And to that I call bullshit. Bozza is perfectly capable of crossing the racism barrier, despite his marriage to the long-suffering Ms Wheeler. Moreover, there are enough examples of that crossing, so how Goslett managed to miss them all is a mystery. So let me enlighten Ms Mensch’s side-kick: Bozza, when editor of the Spectator, was happy not just to employ Taki Theodoracopulos, a notorious anti-Semite, but to pass for publication sentiments such as “Orientals ... have larger brains and higher IQ scores. Blacks are at the other pole”.

Taki also said of black basketball players that they had “arms hanging below their knees and tongues sticking out”. Fine by editor Bozza. It got worse: by his own pen, he had described black children as “piccaninnies”. He’d also talked of African leaders greeting visitors with “watermelon smiles”. And it got worse still.

As the Evening Standard reported at the time, “He told New Nation last week that he had been on holiday when an article in the Spectator claimed that Caribbeans were ‘multiplying like flies’”. Yes, a big boy did it and ran away. Like so much Bozza gets up to, he crosses the line, tries to laugh it off, and is ultimately saved by his pals in the press who are prepared to rustle up a line in convenient excuses to divert attention.

Miles Goslett’s latest variation is to say “look over there at his wife”, as if that excuses the attack on Barack Obama, which has already damaged the Vote Leave campaign and had Bozza disinvited from an upcoming speaking engagement. But good to see that Heat Street will be just as lame as the ranting of its figurehead.

  1. This is just a variation on "Some of my best friends are..." and the logic is still primary school level. Racism isn't a one size fits all thing, where a racist person is racist about all other races. It's a human trait, and is as malleable and variable as anything else. There are black people who are racist against Asians. There's racism between Caribbeans and Africans, between Japanese and Chinese, between Indians and Pakistanis. Someone might be fine with black people, but have a real issue with Jews. Having a "part-Indian" wife (and, really, we should take a moment to unpack the clumsy language there) is not a permanent and irrefutable NOT RACIST card.

And speaking of race cards, it was Boris himself who brought Obama's race into this debate, and now his defenders are tiresomely leaping to the "lefties playing the race card" to get him out of it. You can't have it both ways. If Boris honestly believes that having Kenyan blood makes you hate Winston Churchill, and therefore England, he's being if not outright racist then certainly barking mad in a racist way.

  2. Nobody has to "...cast Johnson in a bad light.”

He does that every time he opens his disgusting, lying racist mouth.

It is our eternal shame in this country that such people get anywhere near power.

It is entirely possible the fellow could end up leader of the tories and even as prime minister. What does that say about Britain?

The long term consequences don't bear thinking about.

  3. Here's that well-known Marxist firebrand, Enoch Powell:
"Nor can we ourselves pick and choose where and in what parts of the world we shall use this or that kind of standard. We cannot say, ‘We will have African standards in Africa, Asian standards in Asia and perhaps British standards here at home.’ We have not that choice to make. We must be consistent with ourselves everywhere. All Government, all influence of man upon man, rests upon opinion. What we can do in Africa, where we still govern and where we no longer govern, depends upon the opinion which is entertained of the way in which this country acts and the way in which Englishmen act. We cannot, we dare not, in Africa of all places, fall below our own highest standards in the acceptance of responsibility.”

Tribune of left-wing subversion and Marxist revolutionary that he, er, will this do.

  4. Of course it was a racist comment. And highly insulting from someone seeking high office - but no surprise.

Most public aspects of the Brexit campaigns are racist at heart, and will continue to be until they manage to come up with any serious facts and figures.

Unfortunately all a reflection of how deeply racist our society is. Just look at the parade of anti-Obama abuse on Mensch's site.

And she's presumably proud of all this. Project Outrage.

    1. Well when dealing with Europe, can the term :racist' still be used? No. We are all Europeans as a collective.
Neither can we call any detriment towards Muslims racist or any religion for that matter.

We, Homo sapiens, are all known collectively as 'The Human Race'.

So, with that, I ask, Does the term 'Racist' as some know it actually exist?

  5. Heat Street is a very odd website, it claims to be about free speech and scorns safe spaces. I see no right to reply, no open dialogue, no invited comments, no complaints procedure or invitation to debate / challenge or discuss views. It's not obvious where to complain if there are inaccuracies, corrections required or further points to be raised.

For a website that scorns safe spaces, it is a very safe space for people to air certain types of view without challenge.

I don't always agree with the people they dismissively refer to as SJWs, but by goodness, SJWs are a refreshing movement who at least try to be inclusive and considerate.

As for that skewed logic about Boris and his wife, I am married to a Jew but I don't believe this smugly exempts me from examining any prejudices I may, however unintentionally hold.
