Cameron Says I Agree With Corbyn

Having won a Parliamentary majority in May’s General Election, one might have expected Young Dave to be in confident form when he gave his keynote speech to the Tory Party Conference today. And he did not disappoint his loyal followers with his bashing of those ghastly Labour chappies. Sadly, he had to indulge in an all too typical combination of bullying and dishonesty in order to do it.
You, the lefty chep over thyah! Push orf for a while so one can pretend one doesn't approve of you!! Jolly good sheow!!!

It was as crude as it was malicious: “Thousands of words have been written about the new Labour leader. But you only really need to know one thing: he thinks the death of Osama bin Laden was a ‘tragedy’ … My friends - we cannot let that man inflict his security-threatening, terrorist-sympathising, Britain-hating ideology on the country we love”. So what, exactly, did Jeremy Corbyn actually say?

Fortunately, his actual words are easily accessible: “There was no attempt whatsoever that I can see to arrest him, to put him on trial, to go through that process … This was an assassination attempt, and is yet another tragedy, upon a tragedy, upon a tragedy … The World Trade Center was a tragedy, the attack on Afghanistan was a tragedy, the war in Iraq was a tragedy. Tens of thousands of people have died. Torture has come back on to the world stage, been canonised virtually into law by Guantanamo and Bagram … Can’t we learn some lessons from this? That we are just going to descend deeper and deeper”.

And what did Dave say today? “A tragedy is nearly 3,000 people murdered one morning in New York … A tragedy is the mums and dads who never came home from work that day … A tragedy is people jumping from the towers after the planes hit”.

So let’s get this straight: Corbyn says “The World Trade Center was a tragedy”, and along comes Cameron to tell “A tragedy is nearly 3,000 people murdered one morning in New York”. So in fact what Dave should be saying is, firstly, not that Corbyn said bin Laden’s death was a tragedy - because, minor point here, he didn’t - and secondly, that he agrees with the Labour leader about what happened on September 11, 2001.

Cameron says he loves this country. Last week in Brighton, Corbyn also said he loved this country. Dave says he wants to keep Britain safe, and, d’you know what, so does Jezza, although the way they want to go about it would be very different - one has no problem stoking up the warlike rhetoric, while the other keeps on stating the bleeding obvious, that without a political settlement you are well and truly shafted.

Cameron is keen on Britain maintaining its spending on overseas aid, and, guess what, so is Corbyn. So here again, he agrees with him. But being seen to agree with the man you are trying - maybe a little too hard - to demonise, to blame for everything of which you disapprove, would not rouse the Tory faithful. So Dave has to return to his bullying dishonesty instead. And he’ll do it time and again.

And Tories sneer at Corbyn wanting a kinder and gentler politics. Physician, heal thyself.

  1. "Physician, heal thyself"

Not easy when you've taken the hypocritical oath.

  2. It was a cheap shot which has, as yet, gone unchallenged by our national broadcaster.
As for the sex jokes - cringeworthy and classless.

  3. One of the key factors behind the Tories narrow electoral majority was and still is the mendacity of a large part of the press and its complicity in directly relaying the propaganda issued by Lynton Crosby. Again today we see they are still hand in glove with the smears. An echo chamber reverberating with soundbite slurs that have to be apologised for after the ballots boxes have closed. Sadly we still have a significant section of mainly older voters who still get most of their news and opinion from the press. The TPA has just informed us that quite a few of them could have joined the bleedin' choir invisible by 2020.
But the game has moved on; Corbyn isn’t Miliband and Cameron has various daggers ready to be plunged in his back. We can find news for ourselves without a handful of megalomaniac billionaire tax dodgers telling us what they think we should know. Trying to pull the same tricks that won an election are dangerous when confronted with a public tired of the same old political lies and deceit.

  4. I actually love tory conferences, for the very good reason they just can't help showing just what a gang of paranoid, curtain-twitching hate-filled crackpots they are.

Who can forget plant-a-tree-minister Heseltine pounding the lectern with his fist and shouting (about the poll tax) "Won't pay, can't vote!" That was before he destroyed the lives of tens of thousands of miners and their communities and handed over what was left of the industry to his profiteering chums. Now the same arsehole tries to present himself as something other than a standard tory economic thug.

This time round we've had Jeremy Hunt yearning for a return to feudal capitalism, Treezer May lying about "immigration," Gideon robbing more for his Canary Wharf pals, the "Taxpayers Alliance" (read: just another tory spiv mob), and the Bullingdon head boy almost frothing at the mouth because Corbyn has managed to show him up for what he is.

Bring it on, I say, bring it on. I haven't laughed so much since the last Downfall parody.

  5. Even their supporters are like pre programmed automaton whenever Corbyn is mentioned, like the one I saw vox popped at the conference who was around 40.

His response to a mention of Corbyn "I remember Michael Foot" as though at the age of about 6 he was sat there analysing the Labour leader! Think for yourself man, you do not remember Michael Foot, you did not give a fig about him, you cared about Star Wars!

Lets get them back in the House, the last few weeks have been dull.

  6. Tory press (I'm looking at you, Metro) eager to propagate Cameron's deceitfulness. They really are rattled.
