Tory Press - Panic Takes Hold

And still the polls refuse to move in the direction of Young Dave and his jolly good chaps: with the latest of the Sun’s daily YouGov returns showing Tories and Labour tied on 34 points for the second day running, and, what is worse for The Blue Team, the UKIP vote share holding firm in double figures, the instances of involuntary bowel movement among those who scrabble around the dunghill that is Grubstreet have escalated.
Remember exactly who is in whose pocket ...

As a result, panic has taken hold in newsrooms across the right-leaning part of the Fourth Estate, as the realisation dawns that there are limits to their ability to command their readers to do as they are instructed. The prospect of Mil The Younger, who owes nothing to any of the non-dom or foreign billionaire proprietors behind the Sun, Times, Mail and Telegraph, becoming Prime Minister is too frightening to contemplate.
So what little caution had been exercised of late - and, yes, it was becoming increasingly hard to detect among the tsunami of Labour-bashing - has been cast aside today, as one last attempt is made to shift public opinion in the direction of the party which is most likely to allow the press to carry on behaving with the same lack of principle, decency and humanity that caused the public not to trust them in the first place.
In other words, they just don’t get it. As the Sun screams “This is the pig’s ear Ed made of a hapless sarnie. In 48 hours, he could be doing the same to Britain … SAVE OUR BACON … Don’t swallow his porkies and keep him OUT”, the Murdoch doggies are battling against a reality where many of those readers have seen that Miliband is not as their paper has depicted him. He’s not weird or odd.
The allegedly quality papers - one can no longer call them “papers of record” - maintain the conceit that any Miliband Government would somehow not be legitimate. The Telegraph continues the demonisation of the Scots, juxtaposing Nicola Sturgeon with the headline “Nightmare on Downing Street”, while the Murdoch Times shrieks “Miliband trying to con way into No 10, says PM”. So even if he wins, he hasn’t.
And from the Northcliffe House bunker comes the desperate voice of the legendarily foul mouthed Paul Dacre to tell Daily Mail readers “For sanity’s sake don’t let a class war zealot and the SNP destroy our economy - and our very nation … How YOU can vote tactically to keep out Red Ed”. One might have thought that Dacre had learned his lesson back in 1997, when his readers failed to obey instructions and vote Tory.
... and why the press is behaving in this way

But these papers are not concerned about the economy. They don’t give a fig about unemployment levels, foodbank usage, poverty, the NHS, state education, public transport, the environment, petty crime, or even bent and corrupt public officials. The sole reason for attacking Miliband is that he has pledged to follow through on Leveson and stand with victims of press abuse. For that alone, he must be stopped.

That should give you a good idea of who to vote for in tomorrow’s General Election.

Not quite true as recent trials have shown they rely on bent or corrupt public officials to provide them with stories and seem to have convinced the public it's in their interest.

And I'm sure that the mansion(s) tax and non dom status play a large part of their thinking when discussing advertising revenue rates with their mates in the Establishment if not heaven forbid with their owners.

So, feed the plebs with mushroom fodder and perhaps we'll pull through is the battle cry.

  2. From today's Mail.
"The number of murder and manslaughter cases in England and Wales has fallen to its lowest level for 38 years."
How the Coalition stopped people being murdered isn't explained. Perhaps the police are handing out fixed penalty notices to killers rather than bringing them to court.

Nobody can afford knives or guns.

  4. Of course, if this were a war zone (and it does resemble one in words) proper journalists would remember, or be reminded, not to let their emotions take hold and get involved, but just to report the facts.

But who can define a "proper journalist" in UK media terms?
