Flannelled Fool Geography Fail

Politics may be the forte of the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines and his rabble at the Guido Fawkes blog, but subtlety and a working knowledge of geography appear to have eluded them, or perhaps they were just a little too keen to put the boot in on recently deselected Tory MP Tim Yeo that everything else was chucked out of the window. But at least there was some candour after the event.
I don't need to understand geography, cos I'm on telly!

The Great Guido told yesterday thatYeo fibbed his way through an interview with Channel 4 News last night, telling viewers with a straight face that he was booted out because of his views on gay marriage. Anyone who has ever been to Suffolk knows that is his most laughable spin yet – you can’t throw a quiche in Aldeburgh without hitting four interior designers”.
Subtlety? F*** off

And, as Jon Stewart might have said, two things here. One, the characterisation of gays as “quiche eaters” and “interior designers” may sound fine to the Fawkes rabble, but is potentially offensive stereotyping (blogging, of course, is highly macho and dead butch, says he while tidying away the pesto, noodles, and a variety of Italian and Chinese antipasti).

Moreover, two, Yeo’s Parliamentary constituency was South Suffolk, and Aldeburgh ain’t in South Suffolk. As any fule kno, it’s in Suffolk Coastal, where sitting Tory MP Therese Coffey is not under threat of deselection, no matter how much quiche is flying around. So which of the Fawkes folks was responsible for this basic error? A little Twitter prodding brought the answer.
Confession is good for your soul. Or even our soul

Yes, the inability to tell one part of Suffolk from the other was down to the buffoon who was unable to tell one station in Edinburgh from another, the odious flannelled fool Henry Cole. His brevity and candour are on this occasion much appreciated, as is the admission of what that makes him. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Hen, and buy yourself an atlas for future reference.

Then you can tell which is the arse, and which the elbow. Another fine mess, once again.

  1. Symptomatic of a (sur)reality media needing a constant fix of hype to create the illusion for their public of being entertained?

Wikiguido's "boredom" tweets yesterday, regarding Peter Jukes factual reporting of "the trial" without resort to spin, gives the game away?

Who needs (corrected) factual content anymore? Boring!
