Quality control seems to be suffering at the Guido Fawkes
blog, where newly anointed teaboy Alex Wickham has been allowed off his spin’n’churnalism
treadmill to take a holiday, meaning that the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines
and his tame gofer, the odious flannelled fool Henry Cole, have to do the work
themselves, with characteristically sloppy results.
Of course my grammar's fine, cos I'm on telly!
Master Cole has been taking time out to look in at Labour List, where Jon Ashworth has penned an open letter to former Obama staffer Jim Messina, who is joining Young Dave’s jolly good campaign operation in support of the aggressive and unsubtle Lynton Crosby. Ashworth warns Messina that “The reality is [the] Conservative Party doesn’t have any insurgent activist base”.
This is hardly new news, coming so soon after the Eastleigh
by-election, where luminaries such as London’s occasional Mayor Alexander Boris
de Pfeffel Johnson turned up to lend a hand, only
to find that the constituency party had next to no idea where to find a few
sure-fire Tory households for Bozza to visit, press the flesh and get the
necessary photo opportunity.
The deeply unpleasant Cole has at least found it in him to
pay a moderately qualified compliment to Ashworth for telling Messina what he
is going to find out for himself all too soon. “Probs should have spellchecked it first but slightly amusing letter
from @jonashworth to Jim Messina” he conceded, although couldn’t resist a
snarky finish: “Bit wah wah tho”.
Well, to be fair to Ashworth, it’s not the spelling, but the
grammar of his piece that is occasionally
flaky. And when it comes to grammar, the flannelled fool is in no position to
lecture anyone, as a
characteristically spin-filled and honesty-free attack on Labour MP Tom Watson
earlier today shows, being signed off with “Watson
has not actually be invited to come
and try cause trouble”.
Spot the howler (again)
What was that about checking copy beforehand? And don’t
bother with the usual sly edit without the admission line, chaps, because I
took a screen shot. Another fine mess,
once again.
