Guido Fawked – A Fraud And A Hypocrite

No newspaper has received more negative attention of late from the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines and his rabble at the Guido Fawkes blog than the deeply subversive Guardian. Whether it’s paying bloggers, kicking Alan Rusbridger, smearing Nick Davies, leaking memos on pay, leaking HR memos, or laying into Polly Toynbee, The Great Guido is relentless.

Yeah, I'm a relentless drinker, shit, no, blogger, always on the sauce, bollocks, no, look out, for a piss-up, stuff that, no, story. And a few pints. Oh sod it

And Staines is also of sufficiently high principle to keep this hated hotbed of rotten lefties at arms’ length, well, he is until the carrot of free publicity is dangled before him. Then sheer hypocrisy wins out, and to no surprise at all the Guardian has run a suitably flattering profile of The Great Guido today, carefully cleansed of any items that may take the shine off his carefully burnished image.

So there is no mention of his being described by one judge as playing “fast and loose” with the truth and “grossly misleading” the court. Toynbee bashing means no mention of he and his wife owning four properties between them. That alliance with the BNP while at Humberside College is cut out, as are the four alcohol related convictions, including two for drinking and driving.

I'm worth a profile, cos I'm on telly!

Instead, the profile trowels on the suffering of his wife at the publicity generated by the Fawkes blog, asserting that she suffers “some pretty awful Mondays in the office” and that after an earlier Telegraph profileshe closed the door and cried”. So Staines and his rabble smear and defame others, then when there’s some publicity they don’t like, hide behind his wife. Pass the sick bucket.

And then there is this priceless snippet: “How much involves trawling the archives and how much involves actual calls, meeting contacts, basic legwork? ‘Oh, to get hard news you can't just sit there watching Twitter, as I tell the guys all the time’”. Really, O Great Guido? Well, let’s have a look at the Fawkes blog’s content for yesterday and check that out.

First post: “Tim Yeo’s 2.5 Million Conflicts of Interest” – spun from an item in the registry of MP’s interests. Next? “Mehdi’s Masterclass in Hypocrisy” – routine attack on Mehdi Hasan cobbled together from Twitter and Googling. Then comes “Tories Suspend Nazi Row Top Cop Boss From Candidates’ List”, which may have involved a phone call and an email. No meeting or legwork yet.

What else? “Return of the Tory Chihuahuas” is speculative filler about the Eastleigh by-election. “Ed in Eastleigh Tomorrow” is also speculation over who may visit the constituency. And then comes “IPSA v Nadine” about the Fawkes folks’ bestest Parliamentary pal, put together from news reports and a call to the MP. And don’t forget, Staines “hates politicians”. Except that one.

Paul Staines, you’re an utter fraud. Another fine mess, once again.
