So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, I’ve got to clear up after New Year. So there.

6 Iain Duncan Smith – Pants On Fire The myth of the caring campaigner who was only in Government to reform the welfare system was blown apart as his statements and figures were fact checked, and found wanting.

5 Telegraph Moron Attempts Incitement Jon Henley of the Guardian attempted to discuss the very sensitive subject of paedophilia in a rational manner. This was a cue for other papers, still stung by the supposed betrayal of Phonehackgate, to assert as one that this was excusing child abuse. It was not. Chief among the baying pack was Damian Thompson of the Telegraph. Bang out of order.

4 Hello 2013 Predictions for the New Year, including the future of the legendarily foul mouthed Paul Dacre at the Mail, who gives the impression of slowly losing his grip.

3 Guido Fawked – Jarre Exclusive Totally Wrong The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines claimed a “world exclusive” with his assertion that Jean-Michel Jarre was about to flee his native France and move to the UK to avoid the Hollande regime’s tax demands. But Jarre was not about to up sticks, and will continue to live – and pay his taxes – in Paris. Another fine mess.

2 Paying Interns – Or Maybe Not All manner of opprobrium was heaped on Left Foot Forward and Political Scrapbook by the right, as it was asserted that they were not paying interns. But those making the allegations included The Commentator, that repository of serial dishonesty, who had advertised four times for, er, unpaid internships.

1 Telegraph Annual Rail Fare Rant The cost of rail travel went up again in the New Year. So the Tel got one of their hacks to whinge about it. But on examination, it transpired he was commuting from Winchester, and that his season ticket worked out at a cost per mile rather less than just putting fuel in a small car. And Winchester’s commuters have recently been given a brand new fleet of trains.
