Top Six – August 12

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, I’ve got to do some gardening stuff later. So there.

6 Shipman In Sports Blunderland Daily Mail pundit Tim Shipman demonstrated that he either knows sweet jack about state schools and competitive sports, or he is lamely doing the bidding of his legendarily foul mouthed editor, as he churned a 10 Downing Street press release as if it were fact. More revision for you, matey.

5 Toby Young, You Are Still Dead Wrong The loathsome Young was once again sounding off about schools and sport, but the difference between reality and his ideological view was rather obvious. This post shows why it’s Gamma Minus for Tobes.

4 Mensch Resignation – Bad For Tories Whatever the spin applied to the story, it’s obvious that Louise Mensch’s decision to throw in the towel and precipitate a by-election in the marginal seat of Corby is bad news for Young Dave and his fellow jolly good chaps.

3 Young, Right And Already Smeared Even before the BBC2 Wonderland documentary on two aspiring student politicians had aired, the spin and smears aimed at one of the participants had kicked off. Especially vicious and amateurish were the efforts of contributors and commenters at The Commentator.

2 Nadine’s Not So Little Helper The flannelled fool Henry Cole, tame gofer to the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines at the Guido Fawkes blog, let slip just how close he is to (yes, it’s her again) Tory MP Nadine Dorries. Some of us knew this anyway, but Cole’s idiocy put the icing on the cake. Another fine mess.

1 Guido Fawked – Alex Wickham Outed The Fawkes blog has a new contributor, which was not new news, but the attempt to keep his profile sufficiently low to enable him to remain anonymous enough to garner information for his routinely clueless bosses certainly was. Thanks to the predictably vindictive and vicious reaction to this post, very few people are now going to be unaware of Alex Wickham’s identity, and so it’s back to the drawing board for the Laurel and Hardy of the blogosphere. Another fine mess, once again.

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
