Top Six – May 6

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, there’s no need to change the formula. So there.

6 Dan Waves Goodbye To Labour Former party loyalist Dan Hodges could have decided not to cast a vote in the London Mayoral election, to show his dislike of Ken Livingstone, but instead endorsed Boris Johnson, this after he accepted a berth at Telegraph blogs that was only offered him because of the damage it would do to Labour. The nicer comments he’s now making about the party are too late.

5 Guido Fawked – Flannelled Fool Fails The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines dispatched his tame gofer, the flannelled fool Henry Cole, to do his “pretending to be a journalist” act at the release of the Commons culture committee report into the Murdoch empire and Phonehackgate. Cole then invented wrongdoing on Tom Watson’s part because he had decided to beforehand. Another fine mess.

4 EXCLUSIVE Beeb Protects Delingpole One of the Corporation’s most strident and abusive critics, James “saviour of Western civilisation” Delingpole”, trousers thousands of pounds in appearance fees, travel and other expenses from it. But they refuse to say how much is involved, protecting Del Boy by classing him as “BBC Talent”. Littlejohn says You Couldn’t Make It Up.

3 Nadine’s Selective Outrage Tory MP for Mid Narnia (yes, it’s her again) Nadine Dorries is quick to take offence whenever anyone says anything uncomplimentary about her on Twitter. But when Private Eye published a most unflattering cartoon about her last week, she was silent. Why the change? I think we should be told.

2 Flannelled Fool – Pants On Fire This post was first published in early February, but has charted again as more readers find out about the unprincipled and dishonest behaviour of the odious Henry Cole, tame gofer to the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines at the Guido Fawkes blog. Anyone thinking of trusting Cole any further than they could chuck the SOB should read this first.

1 Mail’s Bush Disgrace Another unsavoury and less than dynamic duo, Paul Dacre and Martin Clarke, joined forces to spin the appearance of evergreen musical talent Kate Bush to collect a well deserved award for her latest album in an unflattering light. This calling out of shoddy hackery generated the most comments last week.

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
