Top Six – April 15

So what’s hot, and what’s not, in the past week’s blogging? Here are the six most popular posts on Zelo Street for the past seven days, counting down in reverse order, because, well, that’s what happened last week. So there.

6 John Derbyshire – Bang Out Of Order Even the National Review had to sit up and take action as they sacked their columnist for a racist outburst – then sacked another soon after. Many in the US media were shocked – but not surprised.

5 A Shot In The Dark – Follow Up The Trayvon Martin killing has now dragged in Fox News host Sean Hannity, who spoke to George Zimmerman, the shooter, after the event. Now that Zimmerman has been arrested, Hannity could find himself forced to testify during the murder trial.

4 Guido Fawked – Missing The Motorman The perpetually thirsty Paul Staines released part of the information from Private Investigator Steve Whittamore, but only that relating to the Murdoch empire, and most of their illegal activity was directed at phone hacking. Staines has brought little more than condemnation down on himself, but of course pretends not to care. Until the papers stop doing business with him.

3 Beeb Bashing Of The Pointless Kind The legendarily foul mouthed Paul Dacre has directed his obedient hacks to slag off the BBC’s move to Salford Quays. So the whining has begun in earnest, mainly about too many of those ghastly provincials appearing on the Breakfast show, and being able to look up Bill Turnbull’s nose. And there’s a nice photo of Susanna Reid, of course.

2 Murdoch Is Served (71) Latest instalment of the series begun in July 2009 covers upcoming lawsuits in the USA against Rupe and his troops. Lawyer Mark Lewis has given enough clues for his three clients to be identified. So I’ve done just that.

1 Beeb Bashing Remains Pointless The Mail followed up the whingeing about Salford Quays with the idea that the BBC’s staff are scared of the locals. The Sun went further and pretended they were “terrified”, but sprayed their credibility up the wall by inventing their key quote. And both papers had a Susanna Reid photo.

And that’s the end of another blogtastic week, blog pickers. Not ‘arf!
