Glenn Beck – Halfway To Upminster

Just when you might have thought that the manufactured rage over Wikileaks could get no louder or sillier, it got a lot sillier, thanks to our old friends at Fox News Channel (fair and balanced my arse). More specifically, the silliness came from the increasingly wayward Glenn Beck.

Beck has for some time now been demonising George Soros, attempting to portray him as the centre of some shadowy network aimed at bringing down the USA and taking it over with, well, some kind of unspecified but definitely left wing Government.

And so it was that Beck appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s show Wednesday last to push his latest idea: that there is (well, probably) a conspiracy involving Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, Soros, and communist organisations across the USA. The release of material by Wikileaks, he contends, is part of a supposed “perfect storm” which will see the USA taken over unless the people fight back.

Just to help him, Bill-O reminded the viewers who would be forming that bulwark against the supposed conspiracy: Fox and the Wall Street Journal. Attaboy Bill – poor underdog Rupe against the might of the wicked world outside.

Beck is truly beyond barking. But Fox choose to give him a platform.
