Sun Top Gear Smear - Flops AGAIN

As the all-new BBC Top Gear edges closer to airing, the attacks on the show from the Murdoch mafiosi continue unabated, with a steady stream of innuendo, allegations, misinformation and not a little creativity along the way. Today has brought another slice of knocking copy from the Super Soaraway Currant Bun, telling readersChris Evans dealt another Top Gear blow as Brad Pitt pulls out of the very first episode”.
Brad Pitt was going to be in the first one? Maybe not: “CHRIS Evans has suffered another blow as Brad Pitt pulled out of the first episode of the new Top Gear … The Hollywood A-lister was wanted by producers to kick-off the show’s new format … But instead geeky actor Jesse Eisenberg, 32, and chef Gordon Ramsay, 49, were unveiled today as its first guests”. Hold on, hold on. “Was wanted by producers”. What does that mean?

Fight Club star Brad, 52, had given the green light to appear on the revamped show starring Evans, 50, and Matt LeBlanc, 48 … He is currently living in the UK shooting two movies, but agreed to be the ‘star in a reasonably priced car’ after being approached by senior production staff … The move was seen as one of the few positives for the show after its controversial Cenotaph stunt and Chris and Matt’s frosty relationship”.

He agreed to be the “Star in a reasonably priced car” for the first edition of the show? Maybe not: the speculation that Pitt might be involved in not a new one, as Metro covered it almost a month ago. Here’s their schtick: “Hollywood star Brad Pitt has reportedly been persuaded to put in a guest appearance at the start of the upcoming series … The actor, who is currently shooting a movie called Five Seconds Of Silence in the UK, is said to be keen to take part thanks to his old friend Matt LeBlanc”.

But then they add “Apparently Brad has agreed to ‘do some driving’, on the show, but is unable to commit to a date due to his shooting schedule”. So it’s just more speculation, caused by the Murdoch doggies, once again, being behind the curve and looking in from the outside. So they’re left with making it up and hoping it’s true.

Like wheeling out “A Source” (may be related to both A N Other and Ron Hopeful) to tell “Chris Evans is not known in the US so they’ve had to bring in two guests instead of one each week to build the brand out there … Gordon is a huge US TV star so that will help – but it’s not the start Chris or the producers wanted really”. Yes, they see two names and so have to work the speculative copy to fit.

And there is something the Murdoch hacks, still pining for the days of Jeremy Clarkson, don’t want to let slip: Jezza never got Pitt, or wife Angelina Jolie, on the show, but by heck he wold have loved to have got them on. Not so long ago, herevealed his dream Stars in a Reasonably Priced Car: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie”. So if one or the other were to rock up later in the series, it would be a big plus for Chris Evans - and a minus for Jezza.

Not that the Sun wants to tell you that. No surprise there, then.

Clarkson?

I hope the oblong-headed, ugly, racist twat falls flat on his Amazon face sooner rather than later.

Now that would be, to coin a phrase, "fucking hilarious."

Old Top Gear often had more than one guest star to put in their Reasonably Priced Cars, especially when they acquired a newer Reasonably Priced Car to put them in...

Who's even saying they'll keep the Celebrant in a Trabant slot? It was funny while it lasted but it's got Clarkson written all over it, so they'll be keen to come up with something less tired and worn. (Disclaimer: I can't be arsed to watch TG any more, so I have very little interest either way. Still, it's fun to hear about what Phil Space is writing for Murdoch these days.)
