Liverpool FC Bans The Sun

The Murdoch goons at the Super Soaraway Currant Bun have made strenuous efforts over the recent past to worm their way back in with the people of Merseyside, many of whom have rightly decided to have nothing more to do with the paper as a result of its unforgivable smearing of Liverpool fans in its coverage of the Hillsborough stadium disaster of 1989. But those efforts have been to no avail.

Instead, after last year’s new inquest verdicts on the 96 who died as a result of the crush in the Leppings Lane end of the ground, which found that they had been unlawfully killed, the predicament of the Sun on Merseyside worsened significantly. The Total Eclipse Of The S*n campaign saw the paper removed from yet more news stands and a ban from the Merseyrail network proposed. And now Liverpool FC has banned their hacks.

As the Liverpool Echo has reported, LFC “have taken the decision to ban The S*n newspaper from all club premises”. Manager Jürgen Klopp has already refused to take questions from Sun journalists at press conferences. The BBC has confirmed that “Its journalists will no longer be allowed on site to cover matches and news conferences”.
After the ban was announced, the Sun released a statement which told “The Sun and Liverpool FC have had a solid working relationship for the 28 years since the Hillsborough tragedy. Banning journalists from a club is bad for fans and bad for football. The Sun can reassure readers this won’t affect our full football coverage”. Then came the bullshit.

The Sun deeply regrets its reporting of the tragic events at Hillsborough and understands the damage caused by those reports is still felt by many in the city. A new generation of journalists on the paper congratulate the families on the hard-fought victory they have achieved through the inquest. It is to their credit that the truth has emerged and, whilst we can’t undo the damage done, we would like to further a dialogue with the city and to show that the paper has respect for the people of Liverpool”. Yeah, right.
Why the Sun is not welcome on Merseyside ...

There is only one reason the Sun is expressing any contrition, and that is because its management wants those lost sales back - and to try and prevent any contagion, which may follow as the Total Eclipse Of The S*n campaign takes its ban request to neighbouring Everton, and other football clubs in the North West.

And as for the “new generation of journalists” claim, this is total crap. The Sun has re-employed disgraced former editor Kelvin McFilth, the sleazebag who was responsible for the infamous “THE TRUTH” headline. He has been given an office on the 13th floor of the Baby Shard bunker - the executive floor - and a generously remunerated column. Rupert Murdoch has personally bankrolled Kel’s piss-poor A Spokesman Said website.
... and what its owner really thinks about Liverpool and its people

Murdoch has shown his approval of Kel’s intolerant hate campaign against a woman news presenter on Channel 4 by having faithful retainer Trevor Kavanagh put the boot in on her. And Kelvin McFilth is not the only Merseyside hating presence at the Sun right now.

The Murdoch mafiosi courted disaster on Merseyside with their nasty smear campaign against Liverpool fans. They can have no complaints. Don’t buy the Sun.

Maybe 'Hillsborough-survivor' Ukip's Paul Nuttall, (who seems to have survived Hillsborough by being somewhere else when it happened)could gave his honest view of honest Kevin McFilth and his honest newspaper. You never know, it might help him get elected. Or not, as the case may be.
